Re: What are you watching now and why?
I decided to pick up Alphas the other night since I'd finished re-watching Transformers Prime and Batman Beyond and my Netflix queue made me promise to actually go watch something I'd already added instead of finding something new. Ten episodes in and it's been rather good. I know the show ends on an unresolved cliffhanger after Season 2, but I'll manage somehow.

I made it through the first season, but just couldn't go back for more. I got to a point where the constant chaos surrounding how they deal with Gary (aka badly) was just * me off. When it looked like more of the same in season 2 I found it so annoying I didn't want to continue. They had such an opportunity to show better ways to deal with people with mental "illnesses" in how they approached it, and they just didn't.RMDC wrote:I decided to pick up Alphas the other night since I'd finished re-watching Transformers Prime and Batman Beyond and my Netflix queue made me promise to actually go watch something I'd already added instead of finding something new. Lately I watched through Firefly (and Serenity) and then the Dresden Files (man, miss that show).
Right now I'm watching Torchwood for the first time since I'm out of Doctor Who at the moment. Also been watching Constantine, which is pretty good. I'm planning on watching Gracepoint once the season is done. Keeping up with the rerelease of Sailor Moon, as well as Sailor Moon Crystal, and rewatching my favorite K-drama, You're Beautiful.

I definitely hear you there. Gary's a lot "easier" than most people I've known who are that deep into the spectrum, and that also breaks immersion a bit. It's definitely not Syfy's greatest effort (and hell, their great efforts are beer-and-pretzels TV at best).Eliste wrote:I made it through the first season, but just couldn't go back for more. Started Watching Z Nation. Its pretty much the exact opposite of Walking Dead. Doesnt take itself seriously, full of cheesey one-liners and zombie gore. I also watched some Scorpion, Its decent enough so far.

The Flash is my new favorite show of the year. Out of all the DC heroes, I like him and Batman the best. The show's doing a pretty good job so far of capturing the parts of Barry that make him unique, especially his interactions with everyday people as if they were all his neighbors.

Re: What are you watching now and why?
I was actually going to come to this thread to complain about the Arrow / Flash crossover this week.
I've really enjoyed Arrow, as campy as it is. Flash has been okay, but it's much campier than Arrow and is harder to invest in as a result. Still, I've been willing to take it on its own terms. But I felt that this week, when both shows featured each other's characters, resulted in a "just okay" episode of Arrow and the worst episode of Flash yet.
Some of the problem with "Flash vs. Arrow" was editing, I'm sure, but most of it really came down to terrible writing. The dialogue was non sequitur, the writers fundamentally misunderstood the Arrow characters (leading to uncomfortable acting by the whole Arrow team with highlights of some very strange delivery by David Ramsey as John Diggle), the plot had no direction and no real resolution, and the villain was a gun on the mantle that just never went off.
Watching both episodes in sequence showed very starkly the difference in writing approaches between the Flash and Arrow staffs. The crossover experiment proved that the writers for both shows (but especially for Flash) have narrow avenues of application and should not be asked to venture outside those boundaries.
Now I'm off to watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so I can complain about something else for the next five days.

I'll Be Home for Christmas with JTT. Because it's one of the best holiday movies IMO, and I like to have something familiar on the tv when I'm doing xstitch.
Live every week like it's Shark Week.

Re: What are you watching now and why?
I have been watching Silent Mobius. I found the DVD's online and I knew I had to have them because I remember sneaking out of my room in the middle of the night as a kid to go watch it when it was on (like 2 or 3 in the morning). Besides Sailor Moon and DBZ, that was my earliest anime experience and it was well above my maturity level at the time. It just left an impression on me for some reason.

Re: What are you watching now and why?
We've started watching "Agents of Shield" on Netflix.
I'm hesitant to start anything as it actually comes out on Television because of cancellations, re-scheduling, and just investing too much time to find out stuff sucks.
So far we've been pretty happy with it.
