Just a suggestion, but if you already do commissions, why not take some photos of finished objects and some cards with your details on? That way if you run low on items to sell, or run out of a particular item, people can get in touch and buy from you in the future when you have them available again.

That's definitely an idea!

The only problem is that most of my commissions aren't the type of things I would sell at a convention. Everything I make for the con will be made for the con specifically. Right now all my cards are pretty general, not really geeky and certainly not game/anime related. I shall see what I can do!

Even if they are not things you would make for a convention, they will show off your skills and you could get some interesting requests!

Reasonable prices and you can do a collection of photos of your work on the backs of the cards for no extra cost. I've been really happy with them.

I also recommend moo, I get my business cards from them and they are super-nice quality. With rounded corners too! People always ask me where I got them from as they aren't like the usual cards. So yeah, moo.

I may just have to pop in to see you guys in May! I would love to do a booth at one of those shows, but I don't think I would be able to sell enough to make my table back. Unless it's not as expensive as I'm thinking it is! I can dream

Definitely make more than you think you'll ever need. I do smaller vendor shows for my favours/lootbags business and it's always so different as to what I sell. I try to maintain a stock of 6 of each theme, and bring supplies to put together an additional 4 on demand (and we carry 60+ themes lol). Just jam the trunk full and park close!!

I looked into the prices for moo and I think Vistaprint is a lot cheaper, assuming I don't need the fancy rounded corners and such. When all was said and done, I got 250 "premium" business cards for less than $50 and that included shipping and without a sale. Now I know I get can sales and free shipping sometimes. I can get 250 for even a lot cheaper than what I paid previously.

Just as soon as I get done the super secret project going on, I am going to work my butt off to get stuff done for the show. Right now I only have 4 cards done and about 4 unframed cross-stitches. Uh oh! I have another 9 cards pretty much ready to go and just need to be put together and a series more planned out for cards and cross-stitches. After that, I need to figure out patterns for knitted stuff. A lot of the available patterns for cute geeky things seem to be crocheted instead of knitted and that's causing some problems since I don't know how to crochet!! I'll figure it out.

The cost of these types of shows varies a lot, it seems. Some booths are going to be closer to $150, some (like the One of a Kind Show) are going to be closer to $1000, if not more. But it seems that the anime/comic shows are on the lesser end, maybe. It would be great if you came out!
