Help! pincushion for friend?

Post by star2assassin »

Hi all!

I desperately need someone's help to design a pincushion...or a picture...or a scissor fob...or keychain....really anything, for my friend. She's already sewn me a gift of a Kodama only a month after I taught her how to cross stitch! I keep trying to make a pattern of Hanafuda cards, but I'm just terrible at it. Can anyone help? I'd really like to surprise her.

Thank you!

That is a pretty broad request - can you narrow it down a bit as to what sort of design you want? There are already loads of great patterns on here with small enough designs do make a pincushion etc so if you are looking for something else then what sort of genre are you after?

If it were to be a pincushion, I was thinking maybe 4 of the hanafuda cards together, if it were a keychain, just one card, if it were a bookmark, maybe 2 or 3? This is a pic of a few of the hanafuda cards:

(sorry, bad at adding links)
If you image search on Google "Hanafuda cards" you will get loads of images of the decks

As to my broad request, I was just hoping for really anything with the cards on it, so if anybody could pattern up a few cards then I can make something out of a few cards. Thank you!! Sorry if it's still too broad

The problem now is lack of good images to turn into a pattern. Also, those cards are pretty detailed - I'm not sure how they will look if you shrink them down to "pin cushion size" (3"? 4"?)

Would these work? http://home.arcor.de/dr.haug/hana-c4f.gif or this? http://tesuji-club.ru/wp-content/upload ... -raw-1.jpg

please be specific about which patterns you want - it's hard to fulfill requests without specifics.

Any of those cards would be great! they don't have to be terribly detailed, we could make up the less detailed, simpler ones, and I don't need a ton of them. Three or four would be fantastic. Really anything would be great. The cards in life size are actually really small, maybe about an inch and a half by 2 inches. or 1 1/2 by 3, so it's okay whatever size they can turn out to be. Maybe go 16 or 18 count or higher, aiming for 2"x3"? If that works for you guys?
