Coasters

Post by Celes_Lionheart »

Finally my fiance and I have bought some new furniture for our house. Hurray! (Its only been 2 years since we bought the house but anyway... ^_^;;)

Now this leads me to a slight problem, we have never had a coffee table before and I would like to keep it nice for awhile ^_^
I had an idea to use some of my smaller crossstitched items to make some Coasters, but I can't seem to find any little crafty plastic ones that you can put your own image into.

Has anyone ever seen any? And if so, any idea were I could snag some up? Or any ideas on how else I might make some coasters with crossstich?

Thanks everyone! :D

I know Michael's sells some but I think they are glass and should be over in the collectibles aisle, I think I saw some at target too, most are made for pictures but you should be able to get your cross stitch in it. I can't think of any nifty ways to make some though...

I would buy some photo coasters and put your cross stitch in them instead of photos.

Or make some with perler beads.

Celes,

If you have a local JoAnne's I would suggest seeing if they have any acrylic coasters in their stitchables section. I work with nothing but their hexagon coasters (like the ones listed here) and I love them! They come with a pre-cut piece of 14-count aida cloth, a white cardboard backing, and an adhesive-backed piece of cork so you get everything you need except the thread and the pattern (I would suggest that you apply some Aileen's Tacky Glue to the cork though to make sure it is sealed on tight.) You are a little restricted with the size (I find that you have to keep to 40x40 sprites) but that still covers a lot of bases. You can see some of the stuff I've done at my site if you want some ideas.

Thanks everyone for the ideas ^_^

And thank you Schala, that was what I had in mind but couldn't think of what they were called ^_^;;

Now to see if my Joann's has either the plastic or glass ones...
