Re: Anyone up for a stitch along ?
I wouldn't mind doing a stitch along. Hey, I just had another idea for a monthly contest or a stitch along, take a basic pattern and alter it in a way to make it your own. That way it stems from the same place, but everyone makes it a little differently.

Although I like the idea of the craft swap, I'm enjoying this stitch along idea more.

Rather than doing the same pattern, we could do the same subject. Eg. everyone does a Moogle.

I think a stitch along is a great idea. Meowgan's idea is good - pick a subject and see how everyone works with it. Tnitnetny's idea is good too, everyone using the same pattern but adding their own personal twist to it.
Whatever it ends up being, I'm up for it
EDIT: And credit to Loora for starting this whole idea off!

This is a Moogle. He's a little guy from Final Fantasy I believe. He is also in Kingdom Hearts.

Honestly I think if it became a competition it would suck all the fun out of this idea... This should be something done for fun, not sport. That's what the challenges are for. I like the idea of taking a pattern and altering it slightly as well as the one where there's a common theme. I'd probably be up for either.

I agree with icedevimon: the monthly challenges are for competitors. The idea behind the stitch along is more centered around motivation. We could start two threads: one with the big projects, no matter which, to keep being motivated; and one with a common pattern/idea/theme, that everyone is free to adapt.
I didn't know either what a moogle was (thought it was a google spoof...). It's kinda cute ! I love the balloon; is it coming out of his head, like a giant antenna ? I'm sooo adding it to my list of to-do amigurumi (after I crochet the 213,3 projects on my list).

I also agree - to make it a competition may take the fun out of it. It should be about motivation, also you get to see how people interpret a theme, share your interpretations and that's always a good thing.
Yeah, Moogle (or sometimes Mog) is from Final Fantasy. It's kind of like a small white furry cat-like thing with purple bat wings and a big pom pom coming out of its head. There's other variations of em too (different colours and faces etc) but I think those ones only appear in FF9 and FF Crystal Chronicles.

Re: Anyone up for a stitch along ?
I say lets do it...we can do a craft swap another time, so as to get as many people going on this stitch along...
I like the idea of using a theme instead of all the same pattern (that could get boring?)
what do you think loora??
