Found a gem in the rough! There's a tiny shop in my town and she sells pretty much everything you need. Also, she's got an area for you to come in and cross stitch at. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

Works out at 12p per colour or something silly! Always worth a look :)
While I don't wanna rain on anyone's parade remember these are odds n ends auctions; 2 meters is less than 25% of a regular skein.

I use http://www.amazon.com website, I think that you should try to look for sites online, it is much faster and cheaper...

To all UK people:

Does anyone know of any actual physical shops that would have a branch in or near London which would sell Aida by the metre?

I don't want to buy it online as I don't want to use my debit card so much and I want to be able to start on my projects asap., and I'm not keen on buying it in the packets because they don't work out as good value for money.

Thanks =)

Most shops will order it in for you, meaning they will do the sourcing and shipping and stuff and you can collect it with them.

I find that the Michaels near me is almost always out of something I need - so Joann's is my store - I've found I can get stuff for a pretty good deal on http://everythingcrossstitch.com/default.aspx too.

UK stitchers, I get my supplies from http://www.sewalong.co.uk/, http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ and from Donna at http://www.cross-stitch-heaven.co.uk/. Donna sells DMC skiens for 37 pence! As I mass buy at least 90 at a time for my HAED charts it works out really cheap. Hope that helps!
