Original Zelda Overworld
Is there a pattern already for the original Zelda overworld? I'm not very proficient at reducing the files and making clean edges and not fuzzy and whatnot, and I cannot get this thing to a reasonable size. I'd be ok with it still be large; like, I don't know, 5 feet or something long.

Whoa! That has a ton of pixels, it looks like quite the challenge.
I dont think i've seen a pattern of it before, sorry.

Re: Original Zelda Overworld
Umm, well... the map is already pixelated which means it's not going to reduce itself any further without turning into unrecognizable blobs. The stitch count is 4,096x1,408 which on 28ct fabric it will measure out to about 12ft long (assuming my math is right, feel free to check). You might want to just pick a favorite part and just do that much.
I have the map separated into parts and am making sure the symbols match. I'll post when finished.

Yeah, that's what I was having trouble with. I didn't know if there was already a pattern for the overworld; or if someone more google savvy than I could find a better pic.
thanks guys.

Re: Original Zelda Overworld
I think one way to think about it is with the unit of a "screen" (as in a tv screen). One screen is pretty big in itself (e.g. Zelda title screen), but this map is made up of 128 screens! If you wanted to do a reasonable sized map, it would have to be dramatically simplified... Something like this: http://linkshideaway.com/images/z1/z1overworld.gif The only problem is that you won't really be able to add the enemies to the map at all (which in my mind is an important part of the map). If you find some way to go forward with this, Good luck! If not, sorry,
it's a nice idea.. If only a bit too ambitious

Okay, so if anyone wants to tackle this monster, here is the first row of patterns. They will run left to right and top to bottom starting at the top left corner. I don't have pdf's 'cause my converter is being a pain.
