Dr Who Season 8 SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!

Episode 1 Questions:

So at the end of this first episode we see the AI in 'the promised land' with someone new. My first instinct was that he had been somehow put in with the Tardis AI, as she reminded me of when the Tardis had been in that other person. Also, it kind of made some sense to me that the two AIs could happily coexist. Then I was at a con on sunday and someone made the offhand comment that he hoped this wasn't the reincarnation of River Song. I still like my theory better, but does anyone have any better theories?

Also, pushed or jumped? What do you think happened? I really like that they've given us this mystery to his character, especially as he's already clearly been a very different person than the previous incarnations. We already know the actress playing Clara is scheduled to leave the show and I'm wondering if this doctor will have a high attrition rate.

I don't think it could be a River Song reincarnation. She lost her power to regenerate by healing the Doctor, and we basically watched her grow up with Amy and Rory in the guise of Mel. We also saw her die in the library, when she was uploaded to CAL.

The lady did somehow remind me of Tasha (sp?) of the Papal Mainframe, and her reference to the Doctor as her boyfriend sort of makes sense because IMO, they seemed kind of intimate in the Time of the Doctor.

Of course, I'm probably just prattling.

Nah, you're making sense to me. I had similar thoughts on how they were which is why I kind of thought of it.

What did you think of the new opening? I liked it. Especially the eyes and the musical notes bits.

Hubby is convinced Missy is the TARDIS. Also the theories flying during the Who After Show were thinking this as well because the TARDIS has said she lives in an interdimensional pocket of space when she's not needed so who is to say that interdimensional pocket isn't Paradise?

I firmly believe he was pushed. The Doctor, while doesn't *like* to kill, has killed when he needed to (hello, his entire race in the Time War. We know the Doctor lies so him stating that they both know one of them is lying was a big clue, imo.

I LOVE the new opening. Love it to bits and pieces. The Youtuber that created the original version of it is a genius.

I'm also really loving Capaldi. I had a good feeling I would (as I agreed with in the watching thread...anybody's better than Smith *sorry 11 fans*). I like the idea of a Doctor going back to kind of a mix of 3 and 4.

As for Clara leaving...they did portend quite a bit of the "alone" theme in this episode. This makes me wonder if we are going to have a big chunk of companionless Doctor coming along.

I love Capaldi. He's totally the Doctor in my eyes. I read this article about the episode. I didn't make all the connections while I was watching, mainly due to me being totally absorbed by everything at the time.

As for Missy, I glanced at something on Pintrest, I think, saying that Missy represented the Doctor's mistakes or something like that. I didn't read it, because I saw it before I saw the episode, so I honestly dunno what it said. And, of course, now that I want to read it, it can't be found. Guh...

Love the new intro. Also, if you saw it in theaters, they had Strax do an intro about all of the Doctors. It. Was. Amazing. And hilarious.

I'm still sorting out all of my thoughts about it, so I'll probably have a better, more well-thought out post sometime later.

I tried to look it up via Youtube and couldn't find it. You may have to go through some other means to find it.

You're the second person to recommend that Strax intro to me. Its strange the BBC hasn't done anything to put it anywhere, as they are usually quite good at doing that.

I'm thinking that once it comes out on DVD, then one will be able to find it.

I'm just sad because I think I won't be able to watch the rest of the season until....sometime...I don't have BBCA and none of the streaming services have been super quick about releasing the episodes. I could pay for them, but just the first episode was $6 and that seems a bit much.
