Was given tickets (a friend of the hubby couldn't go) to go see the Colts play their preseason game against the Saints yesterday. Was stopped halfway to the stadium and told the bag I was wearing was too big and wouldn't be allowed in the stadium. I was told the NFL's rules were that bags were not to be bigger than a card she held up that was about the size of a clutch purse. I was given a plastic bag that I could put my stuff in but my bag would have to go back to the car (nevermind that I could fold it up and put it in my pocket if I wanted to but wasn't allowed to put it in the provided bag). I took a picture of the offending bag next to the bag I was provided for my stuff...

Anyway, after we walked back to the car and then back again we had a pretty nice night even though we watched our beloved Colts lose to the Saints! It was my hubby's first NFL game. We were 14 rows from the field right behind the endzone. :)

I've never been to a "real" professional sports game, only college* and minor league teams - it sounds fun, if aggravating to get inside! :nod

* I say "only" college, like I didn't come from the SEC where college ball is waaaay more important than pro ball. :P

I can't see that photo...

Whats it like? To be right there! Near the endzone! I bet it was loud! Were you able to see the game alright? What could you smell? Was it all grass and mud or was it the food and drink around you? I heard my Chicago Bears were doing alright in the preseason. I'm gonna make sure to actually watch as much as I can this year after most of last years games (i had it recorded) got deleted :( luckily I got to watch a Bears match and the Superbowl. I've missed it a lot. Shame we only get it overnight once a week during the season...

It was actually really fun! I've been to see the Colts before, although not in the new stadium, when I was a kid (my grandpa used to have season tickets). The stands were quite filled and we got pretty loud (a little girl behind us complained it was too loud when we were all cheering lol). There was no grass smell as we use artificial turf. The roof was closed since the weather has been non-stop rain here lately. There were many, many good smells though! Took a lot of willpower to not spend more than $20 on food and drink while there. Took me forever to find a bathroom so I wandered the "food court" area and there was everything from pizza, stir fry, bratwursts, roasted nuts, nachos, steak sandwiches, ice cream, as well as the normal beer, soda, hamburgers, and hot dogs. When they were on our end of the field we could almost see their faces (well we could but not details). When they were on the other end of the field we shifted our gaze to the large screen so we could see what was going on. A boy a couple of rows ahead of us caught a wayward football. The atmosphere is amazeballs, I will say. :)

It sounds amazing!!! I always wondered if it was real grass or not. It's on my bucket list, to visit America and go and see the Chicago Bears play. I'm doing my best to recreate a fan atmosphere over here though, I have a few bits of Bears merchandise, pens, bed throw, a tiny helmet etc. Would love a jersey and i've been looking for a nfl football stress ball or something like it.
The first Bears game I watch this season I am gonna make hot dogs and cakes with bears on them and wrap myself in my throw and yell at them through the tv!!

The only thing I know about college Football is what I've seen in the film The Blindside....

Some stadiums do use real grass Queen B (usually the older ones or the ones that are outdoor permanently). A lot of places use astroturf, though, because it's easier to care for, honestly. LOL!

I will see if I can get you something Bears related (they are our sister team, after all, specially since they are in the NFC and the Colts are in the AFC). In fact, before the Colts came to Indy we were all Bears fans too because Chicago is a sister city to us (and close by as well). :)

As for college football...we have some big ones here too but we're more interested in college basketball, I think. But then again, we do have Notre Dame, IU and Purdue football (not to mention high school which is pretty popular too). Really there are a few rule differences between the two (to keep college kids safer) but other than that it's pretty much the same game.

Here's how close we were Queen B. Taken while they were stretching out and practicing pre-game. I took a few more shots as well but I haven't gotten them off my phone. LOL

Lucas Oil Stadium is pretty boss :3 I got to go there when my high school made state finals, oh, back in my sophomore year. Prices for food were completely outrageous and I didn't even think it was that good ;_;
