this is also a #firstworldproblem: came up with what I thought were stellar ideas for a final project only to have each of them shot down. So here I am, 2 weeks before it's due starting nearly from scratch. On top of that I had a not so fun doctor visit where they did an internal ultrasound (to make sure everything is normal) then told me that they had to redo it in 2 months and I am waiting to hear back about a job. It's going to be a crazy couple of weeks! Some of this is potentially good news but a lot of it is just added stress >:(

Oh yeah, and one of my neighbors caught his apartment on fire last week trying to cook a smoke bomb at 3:30 in the morning... undergrads, bah!

On the topic of universities (uni?) - I'm in grad school and loving it. But I am also the type of person who loves learning new things and learning to view things from different perspectives. I know that College isn't for everyone, and there the time to go to college isn't the same for everyone (I waited 5.5 years to go to grad school because I didn't know what I wanted to do). BUT if you want to try it out i recommend attending community colleges classes first, that way you're not in a pile of dept and you'll get a taste of what you're in for.

Ok new one. Christmas crowds. Oh my the crowds all full of festive cheer, when all I want to do is walk down the road.

Gaaaaaah! I have cut the same spot on my left thumb four times in the last two weeks! FOUR TIMES!!!! It hardly stops bleeding anymore! Which, considering I play with food, means I have to constantly wear a glove and hope I don't bleed through the band-aid.

Maybe you should stop doing that! ;) Hope it heals soon!

I have built up a Calus on the right side first finger on my left hand right by the nail. It is from pinning all of the fabric over and over and over. Apparently I use this part of my finger to stop the needle after I put it through. I can now put a pin in my finger there and have it hanging and not bleed.

Just think, if you keep doing it there you can build up a nice calus. ;) The things we do for our craft.

IF it's not a large cut try using new skin - it will sting like hell and kind of smell funny but it's water resistant and should seal the cuts (it's basically clear nail polish + a disinfectant).

@Tnitnetny - I used to work in an entomology lab where all the specimens are stored on pins... I used to get dents in my fingers from picking up pins all day and I also developed some interesting calluses, but nothing as extreme as that!

Oh I have dents in my fingers on my right hand from pushing the pins in too, so I know exactly what you are talking about.

Just call me Grinchie because I absolutely abhor this time of year!!!! Halloween is more my thing. People don't trample one another or get into fist fights over costumes and candy. I do love seasonal things like peppermint bark, candy canes, and Caramel Brulee lattes from Starbucks and I'm a HUGE fan of Christmas music (must be the 7 years I spent in choir...), but as a general rule, people are just down right nasty this time of year (must be the 8 years of customer service experience...). The crowds are just one of the many reasons I am BFFs with Amazon.com

Yeah, thank heavens for internet shopping, less stressful. Its amazing the change from the last day of November to the first day of December, normal tasks take twice as long and my sister spent two hours trying to find a parking space the other day. I take the bus, but its always packed around christmas and it also means my usually peaceful coffee place where I go to relax is filled with festive shoppers and their mounds of shopping bags tripping you up as you try and balance your drink percariously on a tray, hunting for an empty seat. Stitching and writing in public is out of the question this month!

WASTE CANVAS IS THE WORST.

I thought i'd stitch a cute little tongue-out Yoshi on this felt phone case/purse

I think my fingers might go on strike and abandon my hands before I get this thing finished.

Edit: In all due fairness, it is probably the pouch I'm stitching on's fault and not the waste canvas. I also figured out if I wiggle the needle around before pulling it through, I don't have to pinch the needle so hard. Still... after I finish, not attempting this one again any time soon.
