Re: Most hated part of Cross Stitching
Backstitching and french knots!!! I HATE BACKSTITCHING!!! I'm sad when I'm done all regular stitches and I need to do the details, BUT it DOES always looks better with the detailing!
I also hate the early-to-mid-project slump. When you begin to get bored with your project so you don't enjoy stitching it anymore or you just up and start a new project.
OH and separating the threads!! I'm so excited to start new projects until i realize I have to sit there for a while and unwind the threads AUGGGGG
I hate the knots in the thread too and here's a tip! It doesn't totally eliminate the chance of knots but it has GREATLY decreased them!
When you stitch, after each time you pull the needle through your fabric, twist it slightly clockwise. It really reduces the twisting and times you have to dangle your thread. After a while you start to do it without thinking!

I know exactly what you mean - I am doing this now on my big Hawk Skull stitch - I know it will be cool when I finish it, but that seems soooooo far away - it will be better when I'm a bit further in and the end is in sight. I figure the November challenge will give me a bit of a break - and then I'll be ready to jump back in and finish this one up!star2assassin wrote:I also hate the early-to-mid-project slump. Do you have any progress pics? I have a really large 40 color peacock I'm working on...well not really lol I haven't touched it in months! I find if i take a break to bang out a few small pieces it motivates me to tackle the large pieces. Once I get past the slump I am sprinting to the finish line! I find stitching things as gifts motivates me too.spinuntilyoufall wrote:I know exactly what you mean - I am doing this now on my big Hawk Skull stitch - I know it will be cool when I finish it, but that seems soooooo far away - it will be better when I'm a bit further in and the end is in sight. I haven't put any up in a few weeks, so it's a bit further along than that - I'll have to post an update soon, I need to get cracking on it, though - it's supposed to be a Christmas present.

WOW!
I find it really tricky doing counted cross stitch when there are a few single stitches grouped near each other ykno? I almost always put them in the wrong place lol. But way to go! You still have about 2 months though! Good luck!

Re: Most hated part of Cross Stitching
I hate when I get to the end of the thread and only have a few stitches of that color left and I have to rethread the needle for just those couple stitches.
I also hate the other side of that problem, when I finish a color and end up with a funky length of thread that isn't worth saving, since I hate wasting thread!
I also hate when my thread begins to get thin and twisted, I've just started getting into the habit of letting my needle fall loose for a second so that it untwists a little.
Metallic thread is the WORST! I would never use it if it just didn't look so cool though!
When it comes to making mistakes, unless it jeopordizes(sp?) the whole picture, I usually just work it in.

I'm with everybody too, I hate that. ^$n0wflake wrote:I hate when I get to the end of the thread and only have a few stitches of that color left and I have to rethread the needle for just those couple stitches.
Also, when my thread knots because I get too carried away to unravel the thread from the needle~~ D<

Omg I will do the backstitching for everyone who hates it. I LOVE it!!
I hate framing, I'm sooooooooo bad at it. I also hate when I make a mistake and have to pull out thread because I ALWAYS discover it after like, 2-5 hours of stitching, ugh.

Re: Most hated part of Cross Stitching
When I'm working on plastic canvas and I've somehow managed to rip the bridge between two holes. I never realize I've done it! Then when I cross back over and get to that spot I end up making the same stitch like 3 times before it occurs to me that it's not going to stay!

Re: Most hated part of Cross Stitching
I love back stitching too! ^_^
I hate going through and doing black outlines on sprites (the type that are full cross stitches). I always leave them for last and then it ends up being a huge chore... in fact, I have a Mega Man image I have been trying to finish for my fiance that I haven't finished in 2 years because of those stupid black pixels lol!
