See, that's the thing...she didn't know what she was doing. I couldn't even pick out the mess she made - I had to cut the thread in several places and actually ended up popping the plastic canvas in one spot.predawn wrote:I only know one other person who would know how to pick up my pieces and work on them. ...No? No one else has had that happen? Oh, it's just my dumb coworker. ><

That's ridiculous, why would anybody even consider doing something like that?! I hope you put the smackdown on her.RAWRmonster wrote:See, that's the thing...she didn't know what she was doing. My most hated part of cross stitching is when I stitch so much I hurt the joints in my fingers (I have a, so far, undiagnosed joint condition) and have to stop stitching for at least one day. This happened today, and I've been really bored with nothing to do this evening, hopefully my hands will be better tomorrow.

Ok, now that's just ridiculous. Why would you work on something that someone else is doing when you have no clue how to do it? That's just plain rude. Hit her or something.RAWRmonster wrote:See, that's the thing...she didn't know what she was doing. Oh, I'm sorry. That stinks. I kinda have something like that -- I've broken my hands and wrists so many times that they start to ache after using them for a while. Recently though I got those support things that people with carpal tunnel use, which has helped tremendously. Don't know if that would work for you since it's your joints. :/EveningEmma wrote:My most hated part of cross stitching is when I stitch so much I hurt the joints in my fingers (I have a, so far, undiagnosed joint condition) and have to stop stitching for at least one day. Re: Most hated part of Cross Stitching
I don't hate anything about cross stitching!!
I don't have a problem with knots either!! The trick is too stop pulling right away if you experience a knot.
Super easy way to get them out. Take your needle and stick it in the loop. Hold the floss end close to the knot. You want to gently move it back and forth and pull slowly on the end. You should be able to get 95 percent of knots out!!
Tip for all the people who use hoops-- drop your needle time to time..it get twisted as you stitch.

Re: Most hated part of Cross Stitching
I hate taking stuff out when you make one mistake that throws your whole picture out. And then you have to take out like, 50 stitches and fix it.
I had that happen to the Sailor Venus one I'm doing. I had to take out the whole outline of her skirt and do it all over again because I messed up her legs. = w=

I know, that's the worst!! I feel your pain. That just happened to me two days ago, I almost wanted to cry. XDbrityboo wrote:I hate taking stuff out when you make one mistake that throws your whole picture out. And then you have to take out like, 50 stitches and fix it.

Re: Most hated part of Cross Stitching
This by far is the most frustrating thing in the world! I just did it with a project I'm working on for a friend, and I just don't want to go back to it now. I know I will, but I hate undoing stitches.Ellentje wrote:Taking out stitches because you made a mistake..

I hate it when your floss knots and catches on the back of your project and you don't realize it until you've made a bunch of stitches. I always HAVE to rip the stitches and fix it. It bothers me to know it's there!

Mine is when you only have 5 or so stitches left and the thread is shorter than the needle and you have to thread it each time on each side.
I freaking hate that too. I even bought some petite needles. They're shorter than reg ones so you can get a few more stitches in before you have to do the rethreading of the needle dance.
Here is an example of what I mean:

That and unpicking, only to find you had it in the right place to begin with
hahahahaha....been there done that!
What I hate is after that your abric has stretched where the needle went in the first time and it doesn't quite look right when you stitch over it the second time.
