I wanted to order 35 bags of beads and 4 boards (for the mini-hamas) - the total came out to 52.50 gbp for the items and 49.00 gbp for shipping  So that's 86.15 usd for the stuff and 80.40 usd for the shipping.... That made my insides scrunch, and when I told my fiance, his response was "Can't you just throw the regular ones in the dryer for awhile to shrink them? Or maybe try a different craft?"

My god. That's shockingly high. It's times like this when I think again about how Sprite Stitch needs a shop for members, lol

How heavy are 35 bags of beads & 4 pegboards? Also, what website did you use?

A Sprite Stitch shop would be so AWESOME!!!

I was looking at a bunch of sites, I think it was this one - http://www.scottishfibres.co.uk/newera/ ... Beads.html

They're a really good price for the mini hamas, it's just that shipping charge.... not sure how heavy they are... I don't think it's the site, either, I tried a couple of others and the shipping was ridiculous on all of them, I think it's just the international shipping... I wish I could find a shop that gave free shipping if you ordered over a certain amount... I would totally order $100 at a time if I didn't have to pay shipping....

Ahh, I know that site. Tried http://www.craftmerrily.co.uk/section/3 ... eads--10--? They are cheaper for the beads, not sure about their shipping costs.
I believe the Hama 10,000-beads-in-a-bucket weighs just under 1kg. I did a quick calculation to try and guess how heavy your parcel would be, I'm thinking around 3.5kg.
Based on that, Royal Mail gave me some prices - cheapest surface mail would be £24.56 ($40.31) and take 56+ days, cheapest air mail would be £39.78 ($65.29) and take 5+ days. I'm guessing that the £49 you were quoted is probably as good as it gets for such a parcel.

I know! :D
It would be the most epic craft shop ever.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, jayde101! :D
