Most hated part of Cross Stitching

Post by Icelandic Hitman »

What is everybodies most annoying/hated part of crossstitiching?

Mine is when you only have 5 or so stitches left and the thread is shorter than the needle and you have to thread it each time on each side.

I know that pain oh too well!
And also, when you run out of a certain thread colour, needed to finish off a few stitches, to finish one part of a project (this happened to me 2 days ago!)

I can't stand the backstitching. That why I like the patterns on here most do not have the backstitching.

The worst part for me is trying to wash and frame it. I don't mind any of the stitching, but trying to take something you've worked on for so long and doing things to it gives me panic attacks! Or when I cut the fabric 1 mm too short and now it won't fit in the frame. I know I was so upset when, on the first big pattern I did, I wanted it to look nice so I ironed it. I ended up with a huge burn mark around it where my hoop had been! Ugh! :banghead: Sorry, I needed to vent about that. :P

When I've filled in the outline to everything, and I have small places that are only one or two pixels, I have the hardest time squeezing my needle into the holes without picking up thread from the outline. It takes foreeeeeeever.
Current Project(s): How much time do you have? LOL

I hate the part of a stitching where I'm almost finished but there's a lot of odd stitches to do, of different colours, here and there - that part seems to take forever and I always feel like it's never going to be complete :D
That and unpicking, only to find you had it in the right place to begin with :D

french knots. took me forever to learn. i still hate doing them though.

that, and when your thread gets a knot in it. the knot is of course easy to get out usually but it's annoying nonetheless, lol
use smaller lengths they say - keep letting your thread dangle so it unwinds every now and then they say
but oh no- i get knots anyways. forever in knots :o right when i'm in the zone too.
