That is actually a really great idea. Some people signed up for some squares they never completed. Allow them to sign up for 1 square, when they post a pic of the completed square they can sign up for another one. That would hopefully cut down on people taking games others want to do and then not doing them.

I think this is a must.blackmageheart wrote:I'm also wondering if next year, people should sign up for one square at a time, take on another if it's complete and so on, rather than commit to X amount of squares, in case they end up dropping some or all. That's something to think about later, though. :D
I remember looking at the spreadsheet and seeing that some people had signed up for more than 3 squares right away and thinking "well that kinda blows" since I came in "late" to the sign up (by a few days!).
I am completely happy with the games/squares I choose but there were a few others that I would have also put my name down for which didn't make it this year. I think the max number of games a person can reserve at a time should be 1 or 2.

YAY I HAD A GOOD IDEA
And I really do feel like there might be less pressure on people if it's one at a time.
Yeah, I actually did that and felt awful about having to ditch most of them late in the party, when someone else could have had them (supposing someone wanted them!) Hopefully if we implement this, it'll take that away!kuja.girl wrote:I remember looking at the spreadsheet and seeing that some people had signed up for more than 3 squares right away and thinking "well that kinda blows" since I came in "late" to the sign up (by a few days!).

I think they should be separated, put in different quilts - more variety that way!tnitnetny wrote:What does everyone think about like squares being in the same or different quilts? For example, we have a few Kirby and Mario squares. Should I separate them into different quilts, or have them all in the same quilt?
Um...I also think, for the future, that we should try and avoid doing too many squares from a series or franchise. Just to get some more variation, that's all!
Sorry! I did 2 kirby ones....but at least one of them was king dedede!

katdun wrote:Ditto! I like those layouts, I think the embroidered patches in the corners will look nice!I agree with you mostly, but... If we have enough people that want to participate for next year and lots of people want to stitch from the same game, maybe we could have one quilt dedicated to a certain game? Like Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, or another popular game. It might raise just as much (if not more) money for Child's Play if someone at the auction is a fan of the series we pick. Just an idea!blackmageheart wrote:Um...I also think, for the future, that we should try and avoid doing too many squares from a series or franchise. Just to get some more variation, that's all!
Ooooh! I really like that idea!

tnitnetny wrote:I have learned we can never plan for a Mario/Zelda/FF/etc themed quilt because there will always be people that will drop out and do not finish their squares. If we get enough of one genre, I can do that, but unfortunately we can't plan for it.
Ha! If I really put my mind to it I could almost make enough squares for a quilt myself lol!
Hey BMH! You and I could team up! we would def have a single themed square then lol!

I like that idea but at the same time I don't beacause there are those of us who signed up for and finished all of our said squares.

Re: Stitching for Charity 2012
This is true but at the same time it is not really "fair" because it gives the advantage to whoever gets online first. Everyone should have a chance to sign up for at least 1 of their first or second choices right?gamerwolff wrote: I like that idea but at the same time I don't beacause there are those of us who signed up for and finished all of our said squares.
For example let's say my top choices are FFVII, Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Bros. if those are taken I decide that I'd also like to do Pac Man. When look at the spreadsheet I see that all four games have been taken by people who all have all signed up for more than three games - that really restricts my choices and I might even get discouraged and decide not to participate.
^ Worst case scenario but I think you can see my point
