Alrighty, Page 7 is done! I actually finished it earlier this evening, but I was on such a roll that I just kept going. I got sick of using spare thread to create a grid, and I lose track of numbers too quickly to count more than ten, so I went out and bought an erasable fabric pen. Only it doesn't show up on black, so I went back out and bought a water soluble fabric pencil. Not sure how well it will come out of aida because of the texture, but it will be covered in stitches, so it really wont matter.

Also, if anyone out there has completed the dark world map, I was wondering if anyone felt the need to change the shadows on the mountains. The image shows as a gray, but the thread specified is a dark green (like everything else on this map) I haven't done enough yet to know if it will work out (as it has all the other times I've questioned the colors). I know that KG Stitch is sometimes off, but I also know that blocks of color sometimes fool my eyes until a section is complete...especially on the black fabric. Also, I spend hours with my face right up close on something that will be viewed from a distance when finished, and the appearances change a lot. Actually, it seems fine in the picture, just not when it's on my lap lol. </crazy> :tease:

Anyways, here's the update:

I am currently working on the Dark World map with the area around Death Mountain as my current focus. I too wonders about the colors chosen (though it was for the clouds) but in my opinion, once you stitch the shade and the brown surrounding it, you won't really notice a difference unless you are inches away. If you have the time/thread you can stitch the brown and then the dark green shade to see how you like it. But I am satisfied with the way it looks.

Your project is looking fantastic and I am amazed at not only the scale of the project but how fast you are completing it. I've been working on my DW map for about 10 hours a week since April and I have so much left. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to see a completed DW map.

Like always, once it was all finished, it look just fine. Hubby was playing LTTP yesterday and I noticed that the entire mountain is distinctly darker than on the in-game map, but it looks great to me! Once I started hitting big sections of clouds (in the top left corner of DW) they really started coming together. I think if I hadn't done that corner, I would be questioning the clouds as well. Part of it is with black separating unfinished areas, it makes things look really funky until it's all done.

Anyways, here's page 8!

Once I do page 9, I just have a narrow section to finish up the entire row, so I'll post after page 9, then I'll unroll the whole thing to give a sense of scale when I finish the row.

This is really awesome. I am a huge fan of Zelda myself, and to see something like this coming together is quite amazing! :Link

That is sooo cool!! I can't even show it to my fiance for fear that he would want it to!!
You seem to be coming along very fast and I absolutely love your WIP's along with your percentage progress!
I may be a little late to the topic, but I also prefer to start from the middle of the project for fear of running out of space and
usually create a 10X10 grid around the project, to make sure I have the size right, and I usually start with whichever color is the most prevelant
on that page and then for each color after, I choose which one is the next most prevelant. If I finish a color on that page but still have some thread on
the needle then I continue on the next page......

.....man, when I try writing it out like this, my method seems a bit crazy :dizzy:

As I was saying, great work and keep us posted!!!

Nope, that's mostly how I do it normally. I used a calculator to determine how big the piece needed to be to get me three inch margins, and just started in the middle (like I always do) Now that I have reference points from two sides, I just start wherever, usually on sections that can be done easily. I save the biggest ones until the end, just because I can fill really fast and that way I don't have to count any gaps. To keep me on track, I just stop at the page limits and don't bother looking past them. It means I waste some thread, but I'll deal.

I've gotten a bit delayed because I actually spent a whole day at a career fair and interviews yesterday, so I didn't do any stitching at all, and I've been spending a little more time doing other things around the house. So isntead of finishing up today or tomorrow, I'll probably finish the page Friday or Saturday.

Also, I'm now averaging 417 stitches a day, I've completed just over 25,000 stitches, and I'm 20.9% done

Oh, and I stopped before I got to the crazy part of me having the printouts on my lap, while also using three versions of the file (one the final, one where the completed stitches have been deleted, and one that's just the current page are open in kgstitch on my laptop. All while watching the first seven seasons of Grey's Anatomy in a single week. I really need a job. And remember, I stopped before I got to the crazy part!

I tend to stitch in regions/colour blocks/characters rather than pages. I think it is because I like seeing little things in it finished as I go

This looks absolutely amazing!! I wish I had the time to really work on my projects, but sometimes I'm just so tired from work I nap away some valuable stitching time! :cray:

I learned to stitch from my grandmother who taught me to start in the middle, but now it depends on the project. I'm about to start a large project which I will start in the top left and just follow the pattern based on the different patches of color. Right now I'm working on making a companion cube where I stitch each side and I start by stitching the heart first and working out. No method is crazy, it's just whatever makes sense in your head!
