No, not at all! A tad nerdy, but aren't we all? But I must admit I'm curious, how does your wife takes it? My first boyfriend wasn't into Pokemon and he never really got it...very disappointing!

I've attempted to EV train a few pokemon across a few games but usually gave up pretty quickly, although I've had some funny results in my attempts. In one attempt, EV training a Venusaur at Mt Silver (in my HG game I believe), I ended up finding (and catching) a Shiny Ursaring, and in another, whilst training a different Venusaur in Pokemon Black, the Venusaur caught Pokérus, and I ended up infecting 40 of my pokemon with it. Fun times.

Also managed to get the Keldeo event for my B&W games. I didn't have to go into the eb games to get it though, I sat in the customer seating of a nearby sushi shop. More fun times.

My Black 2 progress - currently just before Gym Leader Elesa battle at Nimbasa City. Got Genesect. I chose Snivy as my starter, which has made progress slow (with poison and bug gyms beforehand). Used memory link (from Black) for this game. I've also been using the Pokemon Dream Radar for 3ds, so far i've gotten both Tornadus and Thundurus therian formes, and close to getting Landorus. Just learned that you can obtain some legendaries through Dream Radar with their respective gen IV titles, so that's definitely what I'll be doing after getting Landorus.

My wife has a passing interest in Pokemon; she's played runs of FireRed and Pearl. It never grabbed her very strongly, though. We got our DSes and our copy of Pearl from friends for Christmas one year, and for the few months after that she referred to herself as a "Pokemon widow".

Just learned that you can obtain some legendaries through Dream Radar with their respective gen IV titles, so that's definitely what I'll be doing after getting Landorus.

I've heard you can get other legendaries too! I don't think a whole lot is known yet, as all I read was that it had something to do with putting other game carts like diamond, pearl, hg etc in.

I've made it up to opelucid now.. Need to grind like hell!

Also, have beaten the Nimbasa gym and reached Driftveil City. Received a Zorua there.

I thought I'd become a pokemon breeder at one point - I still have a complete male/female pair of every breedable pokemon in the entire game. Even the starters. @_@

But when I learned about EV points I just went "Meh, I play for the collecting anyway."

Which is why I have a complete Pokedex.

And I have to accept that I am never going to be good at a Pokemon competition ever. ^_^

i'm with m4pl3g1rl. i don't care so much about the training. just getting a complete pokedex is difficult enough for me, especially now that it takes me so long to get my hands on another ds for trading. it's enough to do this .

I am playing through FireRed at the moment (first ever pokemon game), and my aim is to have one of every evolutionary stage of all pokemon. I was going to go for the one of each gender too, but I might figure that out once I work out where/how to breed them. I just cleared out Saffron city, and as I'm playing on an emulator I can trade with myself I still have a lot to learn, as I had no idea what EV was until this thread, and Reddit introduced me to the idea of shineys

My current favorites are:

Bub - L37 Loki - L33 Thyla - L29

A warning about Serebii: they often have event news and special game news (like the aforementioned DS insert legendaries for Dream Radar) before other sites, but their Pokedex is rife with errors which haven't been corrected in years. If you want a more reliable dex, try Psypoke.

This is the first shiny I've found since soul silver, end even then, that was the red gyarados.
