I tend to prefer 3-4 strands on a 14 count - when I use it! On the occasion I use 2 strands I tend to find the aida colour comes through more than I would like (looking at you most kits -.- ).

Blending is easiest with an even number of threads, otherwise you end up with AAA AAB ABB BBB on your colour transitions. Which can be done but is a bit of a pain to keep track of.
