Re: Stitching for Charity 2014
J&P Coats has been around a long ass time and are fairly decent threads. About the colourfastness - I'd try using a tiny bit on a scrap of white aida and washing it to see what happens. If it doesn't run, then use it in your square! It *shouldn't* run but you never know.

Cut a piece of the thread and put it in a bowl. Then pour boiling water over it, swirl it around a bit, and let it sit til it cools (I often do overnight). If you come back in the morning and the water is clear, pull it out and pat it dry in some paper towels. If the paper towels show no color transfer, you should be good to use it provided no one here objects.Lileya wrote:I bought some J&P coats floss at Walmart a few years back and one of them has the perfect purple I was looking for (and I can't seem to find an equivalent in DMC or Anchor). It doesn't say "colorfast" on the floss label and it was dirt cheap when I bought it. I know the squares will get washed so I'm wondering if using that floss could be a risk.

Alright, I put boiling water on the floss and left it in there for the night and the water looked just as clear to me in the morning (and the floss didn't seem to have changed color), so I will be using it!
Thanks to both of you for the help!

Just got an e-mail from USPS saying that my package has cleared customs, so it shouldn't be too long before it gets there. ^_^

I received a package with 7 squares from Daniel over the weekend. Not sure who that is since there wasn't a note.
I'm glad they arrived safely. Sorry about not including a note, didn't remember until after I'd sent them.

If there is a note I send a private message. If there isn't, I post in this thread.
