I know none of you will do it but let's have it on record anyway, so nobody can say we didn't agree on it. No personal harassment or bully tactics - only legitimate courses of action!
And I want to thank everybody for their part in trying to stop this person making money from other people's time and efforts.

Something that I hadn't noticed until it was pointed out to me, there are links to big name stores on this girl's site (Joanne's and Michaels especially) is there a way to maybe let them in on what's happening as well?

ok guys none of my work is up on her tumblr or in the archive of her site.....so i can't actually file the copyright infringement. Good news is she does have some of spritestitch's work in general up there. A few I saw was rawr dino, masterchief and rainbow dash silhouette. so if those people can go to this url: https://www.tumblr.com/dmca
and file the form that would be great.
Also, johlo, BMH....is there a way for mods to file a copyright infringement form on behalf of the site in general to bolster the single instances?
Maybe come up with a watermark that would be automatically added to every document uploaded? I know you could still read the patterns through it, but it would be easier to prove the patterns are ours with a "Sprite Stitch" watermark. Then the originals that the person will be uploading from won't have the watermark, but the ones added to the site would :/ I don't know how to do that though lol

this is a great idea...maybe someone could make a standard watermark....i don't know how we would get it onto each and every post though?
Johlo, servo? any ideas on what we can do to prevent this from happening in the future?

maybe like deviantart how it lets you have the option of putting a watermark over it. That might work.
The watermark think works well with uploaded images but since pattern files and pdf's are just downloaded rather than shown on the site adding watermarks to these would be a whole different ball game
I think the pattern files would be impossible to watermark due to the propitiatory formats of the software and the pdf's would need to be individually watermarked by the designer before uploading onto spritestitch
Currently Stitching: Darth Vader on Hoth (Awaiting threads to begin stitching)
Currently Playing: The Secret World (PC) & Race Driver Grid (PC)

Maybe make a selection of watermarks available for use that we can download to put on them before they're uploaded? Maybe do a disclaimer or something when you go to upload that says, "Hey, did you forget your watermark?"

Watermarks are all good for images but as said earlier, can't be applied to patterns. PCStitch has the option of making pattern files Read Only (and can be password protected, I think). PDFs can have information added to them which can't easily be removed by standard means.
If we can get the wiki caught up, that is at least one way of keeping a record of who made what and when, but other than that I'm not sure how we can protect pattern makers while still making the patterns freely available to all. I'm going to find out what we can do, though. There must be something!
