Pure Joy
So the reason that my posting has increased on here lately is because I've been trying to get away from real life. Not in a damaging way, but because life has been very hard, and this community has been one of the few bright points.
My dear mother-in-law was struck down three weeks ago with a disease called Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Basically it is a type of acquired paralysis that can be life threatening if not treated properly. But you can recover from it, and she is. Though it has been a long and trying time, things are finally looking up.
BECAUSE SHE CAN TALK AGAIN!!!!!
At first she couldn't because she had a breathing tube down her throat, and then she got a tracheotomy and had a balloon thingy down her throat, and SHE CALLED US!
There is relief and joy here that I can not fully articulate.
I love my mother-in-law dearly, and she loves me. She smacks me up the back of my head if I call myself "just" the daughter-in-law or "just" their son's wife.
Everything else seems insignificant right now.

That is wonderful news! I'll be sending plenty of positive vibes your way but I'm sure your Mother in Law won't need it, she sounds like a very strong woman
And I agree with you jadley. This forum, and crafting in general, was an awesome escape for me when I was sick last year (kidney issues among other things). I never mentioned it before now but this forum was (and still is!) absolutely lovely. Everyone is awesome and super supportive.

Oh m4pl3g1rl, that is fantastic news!
I am sure she will go from strength to strength now and knowing she has your love and support is likely to be a big part of her recovery. It sounds like you are a great daughter-in-law for her - that is a great quality to have.
Wishing you and your family all the best.

Oh that is great news! So pleased to hear it! Best wishes to her and all your family

I always found this to be true! But more so since I became a mod, because now I can give something back. Whenever I get stressed at my real life (which to be honest is not awesome, so this happens regularly!) I come here and read everyone's posts, look at all the awesome things you all make and leave comments and messagesjadely wrote:This forum helps me "escape" my circumstances and gives WONDERFUL people to be in contact with! And this is why I put a Muse of Community in my 5 muses of crafting. We all have different backgrounds, live in a variety of countries, and yet we can get together online and support someone thousands of miles away. It is truly awe inspiring if you think about that. ^_^
