Pattern from text in a word document?

I want to make a text pattern for a friend. I figured I'd try to make a text using wordart and then using KG-chart to make a pattern but I don't know if that's doable. My sister tried ones but it didn't work out. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help,

I've always had trouble doing fonts in cross stitch, so I have these two sites on my bookmarks permanently. I've never found a way to use a MS Word doc to translate into KG Chart, it just gets too pixelated.

PC Stitch has fonts in the program for you to use but it's a huge pain to try and import words from a different program. I managed to do it when the words were jpeg but it took a lot of cleaning up.

Thanks I'm looking at the different alphabets and fonts.

I've been making a lot of text cross-stitch patterns and I just use Photoshop (but I imagine any imaging program would work). Just design it there with the text feature, save as a .jpg, then use the program of choice to convert.
