What do you use to stablize the cut edges on aida cloth?

I've tried masking tape, and I'm going to atempt to use stick glue to keep the edges from unraveling on some dragonball z bookmarks I'm making my husband for father's day. I intend to whip-stitch or blanket stitch the border after, but just need to keep it from unraveling in the meantime. Any other suggestions? Thanks oodles and oodles!!!

I think you can sew a zig-zag pattern along the edge... I've never tried it and just use masking tape myself.

Fray stop. It's a glue that you apply along the edges, it dries clear and stops any fraying, it is amazing. You can find it in any good craft shop and it is relatively cheap aswell.

Iron on "no-sew" fusible web works fine too. I've been using "Lite Steam-A-Seam2" and had decent results with it.
Plan ahead and use enough fabric so you can fold the edge to finish it too
But normally i'd just run a zig-zag stitch along each side... sewing machine has been acting up recently.
