Gridding

So.. i've finished up some things (i'll post them later)
but my next project is gonna be big. now i know some people here always use grids.
so i wanted the know the ins and outs, and the pro's and con's about it.

how do you guys think about it, and how do you do it?

My first project i didn't use a grid as it had a solid black outline and i just counted that then filled with block colours. I started my most recent project without a grid at first...not so successful as i'm basically just using 47 different shades of blue!. What i've done for that is at the edge of the pattern i have lines (only about 5-6 stitches long) of backstitch on every tenth line. That way i don't have to take any of the stitches out until the pattern is completed but i can easily find where i am.

I have never did the grid lines-- but I have used the floss marking method.
My current huge project I'm working on-- I'm just going square by square until I finish the whole page. It is working out to be alot faster for me. I don't have to look very hard to where I'm planning on stitching next.

I was able to get this much completed in a week -- using this method....but I stitch more then the normal person does!!!

You should -- just to see how it works!!
I find it more relaxing for some reason. The goals are set smaller.
You just need to work on one page at a time and not think about the whole pattern!!

Yeah I do that sometimes too! It is a nice alternative to working with a single colour for too long!
