Here is a cross stitch tutorial someone has done -- except I dont do the knot way -- I try and stitch(tuck) the thread end into my stitches. (someone could explain this better then me)

As for the pattern-- not sure where you could find it on here-- maybe the master list.

I looked at the tutorial. What I would ad is lcut more then a cm of extra fabric around the space where you plan to stitch both so you can frame it if you want and also it gives you extra security if you counted a little wrong. I almost always start in the middle of the pattern. I draw a cross on the pattern for the middle and mark the fabric with a sewing thread. That way I won't find myself out of center also it's importent if you make a lot of stitches in one color to do as she showed and make halfstitches first and then the other half otherwise it might "pull" so it turns out weired. My sister did that ones and it turned out bad. I also do knots as the tutorial but I also do it for when I start so I leave a bit of thread and when I have stitched some I'll knot it. I've uploaded a pictue of how it looks and how I do it here

Good luck and I hope you have as much fun as I do with my crosstitching
