Hi folks,
Am trying to stitch with DMC metallic thread and am about to break everything in the house with frustration at not being able to thread the damn needle. Any tips?

this might sound like a silly question^^; but have you tried a needle threader? that is what i use for metallic thread (the bane of stitchers everywhere) and if you shove the thread in there far enough even it can't escape (it tries tho)

I used metallic thread for an outline for a big prject and I found a regular color that was close to the metallic color and mixed 1 strand regular with 1 strand metallic. It made the metallic more sturdier, easier to thread, but still gave it the metallic effect in the stitching.

I have never had a problem threading metallic threads-- I don't think I could use a needle threader.
I just fold it over my needle and give it a tiny squeeze and push it thru the eye. It might take a few tries!! Just make sure you use smaller lengths because it does have a habit of breaking.

get a strand of regular dmc thread (about 2-3 inches will do, make a loop with the thread (so that both ends are together), put the metallic thread through the loop. Then put the ends of the regular thread through the eye (as if you were intending to thread the regular thread) and pull the loop all the way through. It sometimes helps if you pull the metallic thread quite a way into the hoop so that it can't escape.
I hope that makes sense, i MSpaint a diagram if what i have said makes no sense (which is usually the case with me!)

I'm using a really small needle (28) so that's a bit of a hindrance.
techno-ninja you're a genius! Make a threader out of thread! You're my new BFF, OK?
