Sprite Stitch Board!

I'm thinking of putting something on a shirt but have never used waste canvas before. Can someone explain how it works? How do you keep it from slipping and making your rows uneven? Any tips and tricks, etc?

I generally put a couple of pins in it to hold it in place; depending on how big it is, you may want to pin all 4 sides. Once you start stitching on it, it holds in place pretty well. The pins then can just help keep the edges from fraying.

Tip: make sure you don't accidentally stitch through the fibers in the waste canvas, that can make the threads impossible to pull out. I've seen people talk about getting it wet makes it easier to pull out the waste canvas at the end, but for me, I just used a pair of jewelry-making pliers to pull the threads out one by one and it worked well. You could probably use tweezers if you don't have the little pliers.
