Is there any way I can fit this inside 20cm x 5cm? What thread count should I use?

Try a higher count fabric, like 22, that will make it physically smaller

EDIT: You could also try putting the sprites closer together
EDIT2: Actually, now that I think about it, even 22ct wouldn't get a 241w into 20cm... maybe a combination of closer sprites and a high count fabric like a 28ct evenweave or linen would get it to that size? My maths isn't that great lol, so maybe someone can help with that

Ok the maths
241 / X = 20cm ; count / stitch count = size
241 / X = 7.874 ; 20cm = aprox 7.784 inches
241 = 7.784X ; rearrange step 1
241 / 7.784 = X ; rearrange step 2
= 30.96 ; final value

I have seen up the 30linen but you need magnifying glasses to use it and special needles for it. There may be 32, but at that point the holes won't be big enough to hold the 4 strands of thread. You might have to split the each strand of thread into it 2 component threads.

Thanks guys. I realise just how big that design is now! I might have to lose a yoshi (/cry) or try a different design. I'll post the sprite pattern I end up making
