Knitting / Crochet N00B Question...

Post by Caiella »

<story> A while back I saw this cute and fluffy ball of wool on sale at my craft store for 50c (Aussie dollars here :P). So, I figured that it was an opportune time to start to learn to knit or crochet. After Google'ing a how to guide on how to start knitting... I was confused. Several hours later, I've figured out how to cast on, and do the first line of knitting </story>

Now, my question is, how to I continue on to a 2nd line-thingy? All the how to's which I looked at only had how to cast on/off then create the first line... I'm stuck as to how to continue on after this line (I'm hoping this makes sense).

Same goes for the crochet... I know there's different types of stitches, but I'd just love to know if anyone has some advice for some basic stitches... It's winter coming up and I want a cute scarf :P

-C :help: Thanks everyone ^^

This is a pretty good site. I taught myself how to knit using it. http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/learn-to-knit

As for starting a second row in knitting... after casting on the needle with the stitches on it should be in your right hand, you simply move it over to your left hand. The videos explain things pretty well.

No idea how to crochet though. That stuff confuses me.

I've been knitting and crocheting for a year. i'd say definitely get to grips with knitting before trying to crochet, crocheting is a lot more difficult to master. For simple knitting tips go to www.videojug.com, they have some really good videos. Then to practice there are loads of good books where you can practice simple patterns/stitches =) Please feel free to message me if you have any questions :nod
