Sprite Stitch Board!

I stumbled across the site the other day and love it!

I am trying to get back into cross stitching which I did as a child.

I found this great pattern on your site:

I wanted to make it into a bookmark but I'm not sure what size this will end up to be, what type cloth I need to buy or the colors.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me! I would love to start learning how to make my own patterns eventually!

you'll want to buy "aida cloth" its cross stitch cloth with the holes all lined up to make it nice and orderly.

the size of the piece will be determined by the type of aida you buy. you'll notice aida comes with a number after it...for example you could buy "aida 16" cloth, that will have 16 holes per inch, which means if you stitch a 16x16 square, itll be 1" by 1". aida 22 will have 22 stitches per inch, etc.

so figure out the dimensions of the piece by stitches, the size you want, and pick a cloth to make it approx. the size you like!

I guess by pure dumb luck I got the right type of cloth. It looks like it will end up being a large bookmark but a great one!

I'm still trying to figure out what type of dark gray to use - there are so many that almost look like it.
