Hi guys,
I'm trying to put together a little guide comparing the various pattern making programs out there. So far I've got PC Stitch, KG Chart, PM Stitch Creator and Winstitch. Are there any other programs that you want me to look at, and what do you look for/want from a program? I'll be doing some picture comparisons of exported images as well.
Let me know what you think.

When i was a PC user i used PC Stitch and it was good.
Now i use a Linux OS, so i had to find a new program. What I have been using is KXStitch (Linux Systems) and it is better in ways then PC Stitch, but harder for me to share my patterns effectively. Still working on that bit
But Linux users that want a stitching program...KXStitch is for you....and it's free, cause Linux people are cool like that

I think this is a great idea. I currently use pm stitch but have heard a lot about pc stitch and am curious for what the differences are.

I was wondering if there were a Linux application available. For a second there I thought "Gee, I wonder if I could run that in X11?" I'm on Mac OS X, and I use that to run The Gimp. Then I realized I know far too little about compiling to worry about it.
I've got MacStitch myself. I thought it was the only game in town until I found Stitches which is frankly much better but I can't afford to buy the both of them.
I'm also capable of running, unsteadily, PC Stitch (but not Pro) and KG-Chart in Wine emulation. I might try out some of these others too. PC Stitch tends to crash a lot.

Heyas... new to the boards, and new to cross stitching.
I am excited about the idea of making my own patterns. I currently run Xubuntu 9.04 and have tried using the KXStitch program, but I have little success. When ever I attempt to import an image, it's always just solid black. I can't seem to figure out if I am doing something wrong or if it's a bug in the program. KDE is a bit much for my old laptop, so I stick with the lighter shells, like XFCE.
I would love some tutorials, even if it's with the GiMP... or even pointing in the right direction would be great! I am excited to be cross stitching, and can't wait to make my own patterns.
Thanks!

Hey, just thought I would post a follow-up to my last post.
I have yet to have any success with KXStitch.
I have installed Wine, and KG-Chart is working wonderfully! If there are any other Linux users out there, this may be a solution that works for you too. I run Xubuntu 9.04 on a Centrino (single core) 1.7 GHz with 1GB of ram. It's no way a power house, but it's not quite outdated... yet. This is my main/only machine. KG-Chart runs fine for the most part under Wine... it can lag out for periods when loading a large pattern, but eventually seems to come back.
Now, I'm off to stitch!

If you got a Mac,
I recommed a Program called Stitches.
It has worked great for me.
