No Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the UK until June 11th
I'm currently playing:
Kingdom Hearts (PS2) Just finished Halloween-land, on to Neverland next,
Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) I've not played this one much yet, just done the first rank of missions, haven't even gone online with it yet.
I also started a new file on Mother 3 for the GBA as well.

I have to agree. Even though SMG2 is getting perfect scores left and right I still can't get behind a 3D Mario. When the 64 came out I just went with Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi.

Wow, I tend to dissagree, I like the 3D mario games the same as the platformers.
Super mario galxy 2 isn't as good as the first one, though.
The first of any series is best.

Could not agree less. =]Turqoizyoshi wrote:The first of any series is best.
3D Mario games are ok.
I liked 64, hated Sunshine and really enjoyed SMG.
I'll get SMG2 eventually for my love of Yoshi.
SMB3 and SMW are still my favourite.
The best non-platformer is definitely Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Re: What are you playing right now?
agreed. but really it's a matter of opinion XDriotpatch wrote:Could not agree less. =]
so, in my opinion:
smb3 was way better than 1 and smw was better than all of them combined. but as for the non platformer, i super agree on paper mario thousand year door being the best of them.
now, if we're talking more than just mario games:
donkey kong country 2 was better than the first one
assassin's creed 2 was better than the first one
gta4 was better than its predecessors
final fantasy like 7 or 8 of them were better than the first one ;P
kingdom hearts 2 was better than the first one (for me, mine seems to be a differing opinion than most but tron = win.)
rock band 2 was better than 1 ;P
zelda: lttp was better than all of the rest of them except ocarina of time, which was groundbreaking for my 15 year old eyes to behold on the n64 for the first time. i still recall being scared as hell of the level in the well and those mummy things that jumped on you. ahh memories. now i want to play it again.... but the classic controller paired with that game can go right to hell. i have the gamecube zelda compilation which has it (and majora's mask which is why i bought it, as it was not on VC yet) and is optimized for the gamecube controller (much better) but it's at my fiance's house in texas where i am not. so, i will have to wait a few months (or have him send it to me ehehehehehe)
anyways now i'm rambling
moral of my story: most sequel games are usually better than the first for dozens of reasons, for instance say.. the developers fixed crap people bitched about in the first one. this isn't written in stone tho, as evidenced by games like zelda 2 and smb2 (which was never intended as a mario game in the first place, and in japan was never marketed as such, so i suppose it doesn't count).
i should probably go to bed, or more crazy rants will come out of me i'm sure^^;

Re: What are you playing right now?
I second the fact that Paper Mario: the thousand year door is the best 3D mario game, second best, I'd have to say, was Super Mario Sunshine, though some may disagree...riotpatch wrote:Could not agree less. =]Turqoizyoshi wrote:The first of any series is best.

I grew up on 64, so I'm biased in that regard.
