On the same subject, do you (and indeed everyone) think there should be some sort of Pattern Maker ranks - for 10+ patterns, 20+ patterns, etc?
Ooo, thats a much better idea.
You could have something like each boundary you go up, more of the square in the icon gets filled with different symbols. If that makes any sense...? You can only have 3 boundaries with that method though...

Eh, can always change the colours as well, to make more and/or different ones

Not sure if it's strictly necessary but could be interesting! Encouraging people to make patterns of all kinds etc

I like the Pattern Maker ranks better than two different badges - I know one of my favorite things is making that last post to get to a new rank and seeing my little icon change
Current Projects:
Star Wars Stitches!
Child's Play Squares
great ideas everyone. I just read back a page or so...here is a summary.
-Announcements at the top of the page...(I like it)
-New levels of ranks for pattern makers...(I like it, and very easy)
-different color names for mods (I like it, ill look into it)

I like them all too ;) makes thing much easier to find. Behold the power of information by design!!!!
We seem to be having a fair few patterns not relating to video games, possibly a new forum for non-video game patterns?
Also, on the pattern front, I think there should be some type of 'guidelines' for posting patterns. I know I personally hate it when I have to download a pattern just to see what it looks like, and BMH has said a few times about tying to get people to only post in .PDFs so windows and mac owners can see them. Just an idea.

I like that its posted in more then just .pdf so people can edit as they want to if they want to and I've noticed some newbies don't understand how to change it into .PDF (It took me a good 15 minutes of scouting around to find where someone had explained about cutepdf). So I don't like the idea of ONLY .PDFs but they should be included.
I do think there should be some sort of preview photo for the pattern though. That way we can see what the pattern looks like before downloading. Right now I've been downloading some and then deleting if I don't think its something i'd want to make, but I feel like i have to download all of them in order to make sure I don't miss something epic.
Also we have the quote button. Could we get a multi-quote option? Basically, where there is a button that says "multi-quote" or an icon for it, and users can click that icon on more than one post to reply to multiple at the same time, they'd just click on it on the posts they'd want to reply to then at the bottom of the screen hit the reply button like normal. You could even keep our current limit of 3 quotes per post. Now, If you click on quote then it automatically takes you to the post a reply screen. I think it'd be helpful on some of the larger topics. Just an idea. I won't get my feelings hurt if you say no.

Good idea!

We do need guidelines. And, while I would like everyone to post PDF's where possible, I do still think the actual pattern files should be uploaded as well (for those people who like to tweak!) And if we could get more people to post pattern previews, that would be good too.

If there's a mod for that, it'd be easy enough. But that's for johloh to decide, really!

Sorry, when I said only I meant not just the pattern files. Should have made myself clearer
