Comic book writing - BOOM!

Please can someone help me, my son would like to try perler beads for the first time.
He would like to make some writing like in comic books where there are words like - BOOM, KAPOW & ZAP! (possibly in an explosion shape)
We were thinking coaster sized and using bold colours.
