Sprite Stitch Board!

Would I literally have to sit and recreate each and every pixel? There probably isn't anything I love more than adventure time and all the candy people. I've been trying to make little keychain size (3 inches or so) versions of the candy people and gunter but it's not exactly working. I'm VERY curious as to what process I should go through for these things =]

They have all sorts of sizes. But for example: I want as much detail as I can get without making this thing gigantic (that will be for later). I'd rather it not look like:Other than candy people, I found this pixelated adventure time sword but again, without sacrifcing too much detail could not for the life of me get this stuff to shrink down to keychain size. I wouldn't mind having this in about 4 inches or so. I have 14 and 10 count plastic canvas for these. It just looks like crud when I upload these to the different stitching programs even after reducing colors and indexing them etc. Even when I do find them already pixelated it seems impossible for me to shrink them down to reasonable size. I need candy people cross stitches in my life, hopefully you do too and would help.

The only way I've found success in really small patterns is to use half and quarter stitches, backstitching, and french knots to add details. The software can't import these in for you, so import it at the size you want even though it will look blocky and undetailed, and play around with the details to make them look better. Hopefully that helps!

Heh... edit... just saw you're working on plastic canvas. I'm not sure if any of those techniques work on plastic, I haven't tried. I would assume partial stitches wouldn't work, but backstitching and knots might.

I tried the pixel by pixel method. I now have complete respect for those that attempt making patterns.
It didn't come out perfect, I just wanted to see what it would look like stitched and am now noticing a few pixels I could have rearranged a little better to get a less boxy look. I tried making my pattern have three different shades of pink for Finns face but I didn't actually have these colors available to me. I just used whatever colors were close enough.

I'm definitely going to do this. I made a small sprite version of the sword and it'll give me the chance to work on back stitching and adding details. I'll post an image as soon as i get around to stitching it. Thank you!

I <3 Finn so these definitely help, thank you =] I just won't be happy until i find a decent way of stitching these candy people lol. I need peppermint butler and starchy in my life.
