It's better than bad...

No amount of indexing, sharpening or scaling could rescue me. So after several failed attempts at making my own pattern I am humbly asking for the assistance of the professionals.

I would love to have this image as a square pattern, about 1 square foot (or something along that to frame).

Approx Size: 12" x 12"
Approx # of colors: I was thinking about 15? Simplicity is king here. Certainly don't mind a solid blue background.

Suggestions are also welcome!!

What about this one?
180X144, so it's 12" high if you use 12ct. 12 colours. Could be even lower if you don't do the background at all, and maybe discard the third layer of the star (colour 807).
The spiral on the top of the log still needs some work, and maybe the vertical lines on the log itself as well.
