Heya guys, was wondering if someone would be able to help me turn the following image into a x-stitch pattern with DMC threads. Number of colours involved doesn't bother me - I'll be eventually stitching this onto black aida (16 or 18 count), and will likely do 1-2 stitches of black around the outside of the image itself so that it doesn't go straight from the stitching to the aida. Witdh should be in the vicinity of between 16" -18" across.
I've tried doing this with KG Stitch and PC Stitch (both on trial versions whilst deciding which one to buy, if either of them at all), but some of the darker shaded areas keep converting to black rather than dark maroon or what have ya - not sure if thats to do with there being no thread that corresponds to the darker shadowy colours or something that I'm doing wrong in the conversion.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

here is what I got....it would be 16.5 inches across if stitch on 18 ct fabric. This also has 44 colors...didn't want to decrease th colors cause you would lose massive detail. Let me know if you need anything changed and ill try to work on it!

wow request.sth
That looks awesome I was expecting around the 50 colour mark, so 44 is near on ideal.
I am going to assume there's not a way to change the massive black shadowy area down the bottom of the crest shield. Damn DMC not having darker colours other than navy blue Might see if my other half can play around with color settings in that area with photoshop to change colours around to eliminate as much need for the black to be there.
Cheers again for that - pattern is brilliant Looking forward to getting the supplies for that one together and getting started on it.

I would suggest having a play around with the Brightness/Contrast and Levels (don't auto it though) in Photoshop to lift the colours a bit. You could also try saving as web, that's a trick often used to prep for patterns!

Yeah - I had a quick play around with photoshop. Another thing that seems to work is using the Dodge tool to lift the colours in individual areas a touch. If it works, I'll post the pattern up for people to check out
