Re: Stitching for Charity 2014
Boo, I decided to try messing with your Secret of Mana square. I think the screen shot you got was compressed. That's why poor King Truffle's face was indistinct. I ended up finding another. I made a new pattern but now you miss out on most of the background. I made a second pattern where I moved the heroes up a bit but technically it's not an in-game shot. I am still not entirely sure of the rules in that regard.
P.S.
I let KG-chart go wild with the colours but the patterns should still look fine if you reduce the number.

The area in which you stitch is 5 3/4 by 6 right? Not the whole piece? If it is off by that much could you add one more row to whatever is short the 1/4 inch? It should be as close to 6x6 as possible. I would rather it be 6x6 and have an extra row of stitches than it follow the stitches and have some aida show by the border.arkani wrote:Quick question- I'm on my pad so I might have missed someone else asking it- I got my Aida, and it measures 5 3/4" high and 6" wide. Is this ok? I seem to recall it being ok but at about the limit of what was allowable last year, but I just want to make sure.
If it's all good, I'll be able to get started on my square in a couple of weeks- need to finish off a bolero cardigan and a vest for niece and BFF respectively(and finish off means stop procrastinating of course lol.)

That's what I meant- sorry for any confusion. The whole piece is about 15x15" as it was cut a bit uneven.tnitnetny wrote:The area in which you stitch is 5 3/4 by 6 right? Not the whole piece? I can do that, tnitnetny
I'll measure out the other piece and if that's closer ill use that as the first square, too. I'll recount the first piece too.
If they're both the same, is it better to have the extra row on the side or top/bottom... Or doesn't it really make a difference?
Working on:

I have a Maniac Mansion square ready from last year and I'll try to make another one (I was thinking Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis --I guess it's pretty clear what was my favorite developer back in the day). I'll see how it goes because my sister is expecting her first baby and I've been recruited to knit tons of baby clothes and blankets for her. But at least I have one!

I should have a square from quite a while back that I didn't manage to finish in time ^^'. I'd be happy to send it off if it's wanted

Re: Stitching for Charity 2014
As I was measuring my edges to double-check that everything was okay, I realized that, while it is perfect going one way, it's over by 3/16" the other way. Is it okay to have it over, or should I take off a couple of rows (that won't really mess with the pattern, as the bottom is all straight blue anyways...)

It's been a long, challenging week everyone. Thanks, Lalina! I'll mess around with the colors anyway.
I don't know what photobucket did to my stuff but it is fixed now (not sure that it matters).
Tnitnetny - does it matter if the characters are moved up in the shot? Is it breaking the rules if we've basically cropped part of the middle so that they can fit? Just want to make sure.

Re: Stitching for Charity 2014
I'm just popping in to wish everyone good luck! I don't think I'll be able to get a square done this year as I'm too caught up in my own projects and other stuff but this is a fantastic tradition and I love seeing everyone's work!
That kind creeped me out too lol >.>HornyPig wrote:wow.. thats fast! 4 already?! and dw, they look great (even tho i hate clowns)!!!

3/16" isn't that bad so it is fine. When it goes over 1/4" then you should probably add or subtract a row or get another piece of aida. Anything under that and I can stretch it by ironing and washing it to make it work.Kareesh wrote:As I was measuring my edges to double-check that everything was okay, I realized that, while it is perfect going one way, it's over by 3/16" the other way.
