Yes, a sampler is traditionally done on one piece of material and ours will be no different. A band sampler is only different in the idea that each band can be its own theme. Here is an example:

So, if you can imagine something similar, but instead of seasons it's games. I hope that makes sense to some of you! Merrywether's samplers are a good example of what can be done. Here is one of her Zelda ones (I couldn't find her thread so it's her Etsy listing, sorry!):

I'm pleased that people like the idea of adding their own touches. Aside from popping your name on there, it'll be something you might want to keep or display and so you have to like what you've made. And any little changes people want to make will just make it that bit more personal, or I think so anyway. And of course I am aware of cost factors for some people, so nobody worry about having to go out and buy special things. This could be a good way to use up that piece of aida you didn't know what to do with, or maybe you have some lengths of thread you saved from another stitching.

Random choice of the games seems like a good idea. All bands will be available as patterns after the event anyway, and it may give some people a chance to stitch things they might not otherwise have tried. Always good to try new things! So if most people are down with that, it'll be very easy for me to do and can be done quickly. If that's the case, I may extend the time to design the bands by a couple of days to get a good range of ideas!
Let's also take this opportunity to learn about some of the history. It's interesting to know where your craft came from and why things were done.
