How I started stitching (Super Mario 3)

One day I got a a mysterious envelope from my friend Adrian in the mail. Inside was this awesome little stitch of the castle from Super Mario 3. Was it a love letter? Was it a cry for help? Whatever it was it made me very happy and also inspired.
Not long after I started on my first cross stitching. It was of Samus Aran from Metroid and I messed it up quite a lot, not knowing to separate the threads. It ended up looking quite good, since the thickness of the threads made her look almost 3D bulky.
I recently went to my home town and heard that Adrian is getting married to a awesome person, has a bonus daughter and that they are expecting a baby. Congratulations old buddy and thanks for inspiring me!

Yeah, it is quite cute, isn“t it? My friend went on to do some really cool things, amongst other things he painted the first level of Super Mario Bros 1 on his cupboard with acrylic paint and stitched portraits of all the characters from Mega Man and hung them on the wall mixed with portraits of his friends. I will try to get him to post some pictures but I have a feeling he might be quite busy right now.

I would love to post a picture of my first video game stitching but I gave it away years ago :( + :)
