Question for you all!

Hey all, been a while. Anyway, I'm wanting to make this with just half stitches, and I'm wanting your opinion (since I can't make a poll) as to whether I should do the stitch from top right to bottom left or the other way?

(For those who don't know -- because I'm not a huge comic fan -- it's Carnage. And if you'd like that pattern, let me know and I'll send it.)

Hey Asinine - long time no see! Hope you are well!

I'm sorry if I'm being dumb...but by "the stitch", are you referring to the direction of each half stitch or of how you want to progress the whole piece?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, my preference would be to make stitches this way:
\\\\\\\\
Reasoning being, I feel that it would match the movement of the piece.
If that's not what you were asking, then don't mind me....

Yep yep, and heya! Been busy with life and crap heh. I was asking if I should do half stitches like /// or \ \ \. I've gone with ///, since it seems to be how I always lay the first part of a stitch.
Since I got impatient and started the other way (than how imaginaryanna suggested), I'll just have to make another one! This one's for a friend, but now I have motivation to go again hehe

That is exactly the advice I was going to give. If that's how you always stitch, there isn't really any need to do your stitches the other way. And in my experience of half stitches, the direction of the stitch won't affect the outcome of the piece!

Going the direction you are used to will be more comfortable for sure! It won't really make much difference in the outcome, it just gives a subtle movement feeling if you look at it up close!

Actually, there's a project someone posted on here at least 5 years back that inspired me to look for a half-stitch option. The way the picture lined up made it epic with how it was slanted. I thought this picture would be good for that sort of thing, but I think you're right here. The finished product doesn't make me think that it'd be much different the other way.
Edit: Sorry, was hoping to finish it earlier but only now am mounting to the frame. I'll probably forget to snap a shot after I frame it and mail it tomorrow, so you get the still-in-work finished product heh.

I don't think until seeing this thread that I had ever realized that literally every piece I've ever done, I've gone ///
Now I'm re-thinking what direction my next project is going to go since I just finished a 9-month one

Be careful with this one. I used to switch my direction from project to project, but because I didn't have a 'normal' direction I eventually ended up accidentally flip-flopping mid project. It also became a pain if I was working on multiple projects at a time. Every time I switched projects I had to think about which direction my stitches needed to go. It's not as bad with half stitches, but with cross stitch it was a serious pain. Now I always half stitch in the same direction you do, unless there's a really good reason not to. I guess I'm just lazy
