Sprite Stitch Board!

So I decided to take a break from my current stitching a and test out the Fluorescent threads I bought more than 2 years ago.

I bought them on the "ohhhhhhh they look fab" thought train instead of thinking how they would stitch.

Oh my word. These threads are annoying! Has anyone else stitched with them?

As you can see from the picture (sorry uploaded from my iPhone) I've got with something simple (3 hours work on these two)

Any tips would be fab on how to deal with these threads!

I've only used them in VERY small increments (5-6 stitches for eyes or something of the sort) but the thing that helped me best was to make sure I went slow and not to get it twisted at all. The DMC specialty threads (metallics & fluorescents) are kind of terrible. Lol.

i have never used these types before, but for metallic thread i run it trough a damp sponge first, helps it run more smoothly through the aida. Also, having all of your stitches done the same way helps it look neater from close up.

These threads are very smooth and shiny and that makes stitching a little more difficult than with the standard threads. My advice is to use shorter lengths and go slower when stitching - that is what I do when using any of the light effects threads (fluo or metallic).

My stitching is appaling in these pictures! I started this stitching in the dark! The thread is just bizarre. Some colours are worse. The neon green was awful, yet just stitched with a blue and it was bliss! Bizarre!

Will try out your ideas and show you a fin-teaches project soon!

Yep, Thread Heaven for me, too. I want to say that any kind of sewing "wax" will work in case you can't find that particular brand. I used it on both metallic thread and the glow-in-the-dark kind and it made me not hate life.

I used fluorescent thread for a Challenge project on this website a few years back, and I hated every moment of stitching with it. I like samarin's idea for using a damp sponge, as I tend to use good ol' spittle on regular thread by running the thread I'm working on through my mouth (and yes, I wash and block my projects when I'm done!) I wouldn't suggest using my method on the fluorescent thread though... trust me, that stuff is YUCKY lol!
