Zelda - It's dangerous to go alone

My fiance and I recently moved into a new apartment. The first thing he asked for was a hook in the front entranceway to hang his keys. A simple hook? No way, I see a craft project!
Inspired by
this Zelda key hook, I've undertaken my first video game themed cross stitch project.
I started with a
pattern from moonprincessluna on deviantART and
one from the Sprite Stitch boards and then did some tweaking and added the cave walls in myself. (My first attempt at pattern making!). Here's what it will look like:
I just finished stitching the walls and thought I'd post a WIP (it looks quite pink in the pic but is a much nicer colour in real life).
I have no idea how I'm going to turn this into a key hook when I'm done (since there's no way I'm screwing a hook through the cross stitch...), but, in the meantime, the fiance doesn't seem too mad about having to continue storing his keys on the floor

Very nice so far! Welcome!

Put it in a wooden frame and use hooks with a screw end (best if you use an unpainted frame).
I've done it myself before so I know it's very simple!

Just a thought: you can frame your work and screw the hook in the frame or try to make a whole in the glass and secure the hook in the back with a screw nut!

Thanks guys! The wooden frame idea is a really good one. I'll be sure to post a pic when it's done.

Well, this one sat in my closet for over a year while I searched for an appropriate frame. Eventually, I gave up and treated myself to some professional framing. I'm thrilled with how it turned out, and it's finally fulfilling its purpose in my front hallway.
