My Little Pony project

Post by Moxie »

Hey all - long time reader, first time poster.

Not too long ago, I was taking a break from life and spending some quality time with my ailing grandfather. He's on dialysis, so while he was at his appointments I needed something to do! That's where stitching came along. The first and last time I had done it was when I was about 5, so to relearn it took me about 2 small pieces, maybe 6 square inches each. After that I was ready to jump into what I really wanted to do, a tribute piece.

I'm a big fan of My Little Pony and I'm a big fan of merchandise, so I was totally hooked when Enterplay put out a line of trading cards. I've gotten to hang out with them since, and they're cool people, so I decided to make something for them. The piece I designed was a stitched version of their Bronycon exclusive Rarity card, and this is how it began...

And this is how it sits currently!

This is probably my fifth stitching ever, so I don't think it's too bad haha. I've got about 200 hours into this so far. Thanks for looking, I'm eager to share more!

EDIT: Oops, resized images so you can actually see them!

Thank you :)

I made the pattern from a scan of the actual card. I would be glad to share the pattern when I'm done, as I'm actually making small corrections as I go along!

I've actually been thinking of doing a Magic card for one of our monthly challenges. When one comes along that will make it worthwhile. So much gorgeous artwork on those cards!

Not a bad idea for a challenge, actually - trading cards! I'll log that one away :D

Filled in several mane sections, finished up the grey outline.

Only a little more mane to fill in, then I'm doing the metallic thread sparkles!
