Welcome to the insanity! Best of luck to youPrimroseFrost wrote:I decided to start this (monstrous, incredible) pattern on Sunday, so count another crazy person in! I'm really slow, so I don't have enough done to warrant a WIP pic, though. For the record, I'm starting in the bottom left corner, in part because that's where I'm comfortable, and in part because Bulbasaur is National Pokedex #1.

Woo hoo! I just checked the mail (actually like 6 hours ago, so I lied) and my Aida came
I have a couple projects ahead of this, but I'm excited to have some of my supplies! I will say though, I unrolled the canvas to see how big it truly is and this project is super intimidating. I can't wait to dive in!

Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
Okay, a day later than I said I would share but doing this post completely slipped my mind!! XD Mostly because I totally suck at taking pictures of this project.
It was soo easy when it was small, haha.
So this is where it stood as of Saturday morning:

Since then, I finished what I have of Vulpix's head and now working on Ninetails.
I'm sure I'll make great progress in the next two nights if I don't sleep too much. This obsession/insanity is very soothing after a hectic week of retail work.

My sister found this website back in august after a google search for a pokemon cross stitch. She managed to convince my mother to stitch it for her. She started the middle of September and this is how far she had got last Friday.

All I've done is read through this thread and I feel accomplished! I can't even imagine what it must feel like to finish it
Maybe after I finish up a couple projects I'm working on now I'll be able to start one of the generations. I'm thinking number two.... Great work, guys, they all look fabulooous!

CheshireMouse- it took me 4 years coz i took extended breaks from the project and I only stitch some evening of the week so i'm pretty slow. I'd say all up i spent 2 years actually stitching maybe an hour or two a night and the other 2 years not stitching at all! It really is my favourite project EVER. I loved every moment of it coz I just think its a great pattern!CheshireMouse wrote:Congrats on the completed one, chouchou!
You all are scaring me a little with this talk of years put into it... haha XD (no offense meant!) I'm going by pages myself, and finished the 6th (one of the smaller charts) last week, and I'm a few days away from being 3 months into this project. The holidays reawakening muscle injuries is slowing me down a bit. When I do my next update on Saturday, I'll share the picture here too.
I love seeing everyone else's progress too! Keep it up
Since the start of this thread, how many people have actually finished the darn thing? I can think of 2 others but are there more?

Okay, now I AM intimidated. I am a very slow stitcher, and I figured that I could do better than four years if I made sure to keep working on it every night.... Thus far I'm on track for 3-ish years, I believe.chouchou26e wrote:CheshireMouse- it took me 4 years coz i took extended breaks from the project and I only stitch some evening of the week so i'm pretty slow. Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
Every time I look at this thread I want to give this project a go. A few things are stopping me.
I don't know where I would find Aida big enough for this, there aren't that many craft stores in my area. Spotlight is the main one but the pre-packaged aida is nowhere near large enough.
Also what I would use to hold it as I work. I feel like a hoop or Q-snaps would be too small and I haven't found any scroll frames in my price range in Aus (seriously I wish I lived in the UK!) that aren't cr*ppy quality.
Maybe I'm just making excuses.
I also worry I would make a mistake somewhere and not realise until it was too late and throw the whole thing off! That tends to happen to me when I'm stitching late at night or watching TV at the same time!
Anywho, everyone's looks amazing so keep up the good work team!

Shazbang, you can totally do it!Shazbang wrote:I don't know where I would find Aida big enough for this, there aren't that many craft stores in my area. Spotlight is the main one but the pre-packaged aida is nowhere near large enough.

1. I'm from Australia too- there are lots of specialty craft stores with big enough aida- if you're in Melbourne, i can even give you some names
2. I stitched the whole thing with a Q snap frame and a few bull dog clips to gather the extra fabric to stop it getting dirty. Totally do-able!
3. I did tacking stitches to help me keep track of my counting. But I also made some mistakes, you either unpick or if its really minor, just keep going. in such a big project no one will notice that Clefairy is a bit cross-eyed!
Its just so much fun. I promised myself i wouldnt do a big project for a while but i kinda miss it so I'm jumping in again. Just ordered fabric and then I'll be ready to go!

Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
I'm in Australia too and ended up buying the aida for this from eBay. This project works well on a piece of 50x75cm 18ct, and I have a few pieces that size spare (I went nuts one day!) so if you'd like Shazbang I'd be happy to send you one
And perhaps stupidly, I'm using a large hoop! I have no clue where to buy Q-snaps as my local Spotlight doesn't have them, but the hoop does work alright.
