I made this for my boyfriend for his birthday and have thus far only been able to get Snake onto the strap. I tried to sew them directly on but kept getting crooked pieces, so I decided to stitch them on aida parchment and then use the outline to stitch them to the strap. This, however, ended up not working, so I made an awful attempt at backstitching them on. I've yet to decide how I'm going to get the others on so that they'll look better on the strap than Snake does.
Anyway, I'm very proud of this project. I've only seen two done before (one I just saw today on this site), but I came up with the idea before ever having seen it done. My boyfriend was actually the muse of the idea because he said he was going to put a Boo I made for him out of Perler Beads on his guitar, and I couldn't help but thinking "there must be a better way to get a Boo on his guitar." This was my first time cross-stitching since I was eight or so.
Speaking of Perler Beads... those of you who do them should check out the Bead Sprites Forum (http://beadsprites.informe.com/index.php) if you haven't already. There are some amazing people over there. And speaking of the Bead Sprites Forum, I need to thank DoctorOctoroc (http://beadsprites.informe.com/viewtopic.php?t=128) for his help resizing and reducing the colors to 6 for the Snake Codec image. My stitch was my concept but his design (using the original of course)... the only thing I changed after he sent it to me was swapping two greens around then changing the lightest one to a light gray. So thanks to Doc, and thanks to anyone who made it through all of these words.
Side note: I'm not sure yet if I'll put up my Perler pieces here or not, but if you'd like to see them I'm PaperRockScisorz on the BSF also, and they're up in the Member's Bead-Sprites Thread.
