Small World...
Thought I'd share an "it's a small world" moment with you.
For the past few months I've been planning to attend my local knitting/crochet/craft group. I made it to the meeting this week, with a friend who also wanted to go. I took a crochet hook and some wool with me, planning to start on one of my swap gifts. The others at the meeting loved the pattern I'm doing, and asked what it was for, so I explained about Sprite Stitch. One girl said that the forum sounded familiar - turns out she'd been interviewed on the blog!

Re: Small World...
Best one I know:
My husband and I had our honeymoon in Hawaii. We ate dinner at our hotel one night, and talked to our waiter about both being from Texas. Even stranger, he and my husband specialized in the same area of accounting, and had both worked for Deloitte (before said waiter moved to Hawaii and took a few years off). A couple years later, my husband left his job for one at a smaller local firm, and when he started working there, he was talking with his colleagues about Maui, and one of the guys said, I used to live in Maui! ... and turns out he was the waiter, moved back to the mainland, happening to working for the small local firm. He remembered our conversation from the hotel.

Hi lcockitt - Where in Cheshire are you? I have been looking to try and go to a local group/club but haven't found anything nearby so if you are close then it could be the answer for me!lcockitt wrote:Thought I'd share an "it's a small world" moment with you.

Re: Small World...
I used to play Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast and later on Gamecube. I had a friend I'd play with regularly who was from the London area. One day I got a message from him, asking if I wanted to come and join his group for some fun etc, and he'd introduce me to some good friends. Of course, I joined and made friends with the new people there. Got on really well with one of them, and we got talking about where we're from...turns out he was from one of the villages next to mine!

Ooh, who was that?lcockitt wrote:One girl said that the forum sounded familiar - turns out she'd been interviewed on the blog!

Gatchacaz - she showed me some of her blackwork, it looks fantastic! Very tempted to give it a go sometime... perhaps after finishing a couple of the WIPs.blackmageheart wrote:Ooh, who was that?lcockitt wrote:One girl said that the forum sounded familiar - turns out she'd been interviewed on the blog!

Re: Small World...
Pretty much every girl I meet is called Amy. To the point I have to call them by their origin Amy of Diss, Amy of Warwick, Amy of Holsworthy etc Now 3 Amys One from the USA, one from the UK and one from Aus, 3 consecutive birthdays so 22,23 and 24 of Oct, and 22,23,24 years old.
As to Ally's WAer everywhere
One Sunday in Cambridge, England, due to the crappy bus service I'm walking into to work. Walk past and oldish(45~55) Asian lady and she calls out to me, says she is waiting for her son to turn up, to help her hook up the trailer to her car so she can go and help him move. I figure its quicker to go back drag the trailer, hook it up then argue out of it, so I help. She's a chatty person, so asks me what I do, so I think I'm safe, she going to berate me for this, and tell me that what her good for nothing son is probably doing instead of helping his mother, so I say I make Computer Games. WELL her son wants to do that, how did I get into it, what course did I do etc. Safe line, So I'm like HA Charles Sturt University Bathurst! And she is Bathurst as in Bathurst 1000, your an Aussie ME TOO! She is from Perth ( which is in Western Australia ). Then wanted to know how I got my visa etc because he niece or something also wants to come over. So I leave some contact details etc and get on to work....
It was at the point I decided saying I'm an Australian Games Programmer was FAR to clangourous ( not the first time its lead to 100 questions ) and I needed a country and job title that nobody would ask a 2nd question about, so Iceland and a hitman, hence Icelandic Hitman.
I girl that I went to High School with just happened to be teaching in St Ives London, I found out.

I was talking to my local comic book guy about National Novel Writing Month, this year was my first go and he revealed his girlfriend was one of the local ML's, like a district leader. I hadn't heard of NaNoWriMo before I started so I was suprised at how well known it actually is and how close it was to my life.
