Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
I have finished the first two books in the Coloworld series by Rachel E. Kelly and while the love story was a little too saccharine for me in the first book, by the second I was pretty hooked on the characters and the interesting story line. I am close to 50% done with the third one as I promised the author I would read and review them by C2E2 (which is next week!) when I will hang out with her again. I am also currently reading through the Dark Witch trilogy by Nora Roberts - 85% through the first one and honestly, it feels like a rehash of her Three Sisters trilogy in a different setting (ah well, "candy" books shouldn't surprise me when I get tired of them). I devoured the third book in Anne Bishop's Others series, Vision in Silver. I sped through the graphic novel version of Madeline L'Engle's Wrinkle in Time (one of my favorite books, evah!). I am also currently making my way through The Abide Guide: How to Live Like Lebowski by the guys from the Dudeist website - very amusing and strangely insightful, I must say.

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
I decided to do a reading challenge this year that has several challenges that has me reading books I normally wouldn't. Right now I'm in the middle of Prozac Nation. I haven't seen the movie but the book caught my eye and it fits one of my challenges so I just got it.

I ended up reading How to Train Your Dragon before I Am Malala and read it in about 8 hours or so. It was a cute book but NOTHING like the movie at all beyond the character names. LOL! I am still reading I Am Malala (been busy and/or playing too much Diablo 3). Still on Murderous Minds for my nighttime book as well. Been playing my 3DS at night instead of reading lately. Apparently I'm in a gaming mood. Haha!

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
Finished off both of these recently. Started a series of five books I got for free from Amazon called 80AD about a couple of youngsters that get sucked into a video game that takes place during 80AD England (with some fantasy elements like magic and elves and such). It's pretty good so far. Nothing spectacular but decent. They seem to be a quick read. I'm about 60% through the first one and I've only been reading it for about 3 days. So that's my current nighttime book. LOL! Not sure which daytime book I will start. Either City of Bones (checked it out for the kiddo and she's not reading it) or something else I have around the house that's been needing read. Haha! Might skip the daytime book and pick my stitching back up. I've been neglecting it for a few months now.MeiTow wrote:I ended up reading How to Train Your Dragon before I Am Malala and read it in about 8 hours or so. So, I'm onto book 4 of the Jill Kismet books by Lilith Saintcrow in the space of about 3 weeks. Really enjoy them, and especially because she gets living in a desert climate. Reading these books, you just know she's actually lived in a climate like that. She also does interesting characters and relationships and I like the world she's created. Highly recommend the series.

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
I loveeeee Lilith Saintcrow. I'm in the midst of her Dante Valentine series, and I hate having to put it down to do important things. I've also got the Jill Kismet books, which are somewhere on my to-read list... Fortunately, both of the series have been compiled into omnibuses (omnibusi?) so I don't have to buy 5 separate books for each series. Just one monster book each. I have no idea what it is about her writing, but it's almost impossible to put any of her books down~
I'm also reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Really neat, but not quite as edge-of-your seat as Saintcrow's works. Same with A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin (more often known as Game of Thrones xD)
I may or may not be reading too many books at one time...

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
Have you read her Steampunk series? I read the first one which is how I found her as an author and thought it was interesting. Odd, different. The Jill Kismet hooks are better.Mishatu wrote:I loveeeee Lilith Saintcrow. I'm in the midst of her Dante Valentine series, and I hate having to put it down to do important things. Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
OMFG!!!!
I just finished Pariah by Dan Abnett and it was SO DAMN GOOD!!! So I literally went immediately to find the next one, because serious cliffhanger AND ITS NOT EVEN SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE!!!
I think I might die of the suspense. The whole thing played out so beautifully, and it's like old friends one by one coming back, and some serious fan girl squee thrown in, and I'm sure none of this (or the book) will make much sense if you haven't read Eisenhorn & Ravenor trilogies and probably at least one if the Horus Heresies or at least know something about 40k, but what you just have to understand is I CANT READ THE NEXT BOOK AND IM DYING,!!
And now I have to try to sleep and I just know that's going to be impossible.

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
This is, by far, THE best reaction to a book I have ever read. I wish I could help in your agony, but alas, I can not. I hope it's not too long before the next one is released.Eliste wrote:OMFG!!!!

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
Heh, well I'm glad you liked it. I am so sleep-deprived now. And there's no sign of it being released. The author has said he wanted to finish at least two different series before the going back to this one. /sadpandaSunkistShiek wrote: This is, by far, THE best reaction to a book I have ever read.
