Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
I've got so much going on that it seems like I'm not really finishing anything unless there's a quickly-approaching deadline. So I've started reading the Fruits Basket manga series. It's so cute and a fairly simple read. There are 23 books in the series and finishing a book just makes my soul happy.

A friend of mine really likes the Fruits Basket manga series as well. The anime is on Netflix (or was last time I checked) if you are interested.
I finally finished off the second Outlander book last week and have now started on a book about John Wayne Gacy written by his defense lawyer. It's been really interesting so far! But, then again, I have a fascination with serial killers and Gacy is one of my favorites so...there's that. LOL! I found it on sale in the Kindle store as well as another book on him written by the prosecutor so it will be interesting to read both sides, I think.
Still need to finish Hild but I've been cross stitching during the day instead of reading because I'm so far behind on my swap gift. :\

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
I recently just finished re-reading the Harry Potter series. I felt like I really needed to, because I think I was nine or ten when I first started reading them, and I couldn't remember all the details from the books that were left out or changed in the movies. Plus my memory when it comes to books is just awful. I tend to remember books I don't like, but not books I like.
My friend lent me The Maze Runner, which is what I'm reading now, although I don't really like it. I only borrowed it because we saw the movie together and I thought I'd give it a chance.

Couldn't get into Maze Runner...much prefer James Dashner's 13th Reality series
Almost done rereading Slathbog's Gold. Just need to decide if I should continue rereading that series, or reread the books in the Farworld series, since the next book might come out before the end of the year. Also reading the Hello Kitty books published by Perfect Square

I just finished it. Can't say it was one of my favorites. If I ever come across the 13 Reality books I might give them a go.Firehawke wrote:Couldn't get into Maze Runner...much prefer James Dashner's 13th Reality series

I was pretty "meh" on The Maze Runner as well. My daughter and her friends are obsessing over the trilogy right now but I don't see what the big deal was. I think I much preferred Lord of the Flies over it (it's being compared to LotF a lot).scarletstitcher wrote:I just finished it. Can't say it was one of my favorites. My daughter had to read Animal Farm for school so over her fall break I took three days and reread it since the last time I'd read it I was her age and didn't even realize it was this big political book. I totally thought it was just a cool story about talking animals. Boy was it great rereading it now that I'm much older. Jesus, I was dense back then...it's not like the political slant in it is subtle or anything....

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
I'm so sorry for not seeing this earlier! Yes! I saw the anime on there. Actually, Fruits Basket is the first and only manga series that I got my boyfriend to read (he loves it although he'd never verbally say that), so for Christmas he got me the DVDs. They're currently packed in a box, but, eventually, I'd like to get them out. Also, I think the DVDs I have they're dubbed and the ones on Netflix are subbed, but don't quote me on that.MeiTow wrote:A friend of mine really likes the Fruits Basket manga series as well. Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
I got three books as Christmas gifts, so I'm really excited to be reading. I've promised that I won't be doing any knitting or crocheting until 2015, so I've got plenty of time for books. I was given the first two of Michael Palin's diaries series as well as 'I Am Zlatan Ibrahimović'.
I'm starting with Mr. Palin because I love him oh so much. He's always been my favourite Python.
I am really enjoying the book so far. It's really interesting seeing the mixture of Monty Python and personal life stuff.

Re: So...What Are You Reading Now?
Reading Robin Hobb's "Tawny Man Trilogy". Currently on the second book "The Golden Fool".
I read the original Farseer Trilogy (Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, & Assassin's Quest) way back when. And I didn't realize that her other series were direct sequels. "Tawny Man" is the third set in her "Farseer" epoch. I'm reading it and enjoying it, but I read the first set so long ago, I find myself really wanting to go back and read the first series again (which I never do), and then get caught up on the one I skipped.
I think that's the sign of a good story.
