Just finished Jim Butcher's Cold Days and Skin Game on audiobook. I've been dissatisfied with the Dresden books for a while, but moving over to the audiobooks helped a lot since I'm not getting rageified when I come to his "let's re-introduce someone you've known for 16 books AGAIN" paragraphs. They're somehow easier to deal with with James Marsters is reading through them.

I agree with the Dresden books, but haven't had the problem with some of the "introductory paragraphs" because they are so slow in coming out.
I saw the movie "Odd Thomas" on Saturday, which was kind of Dresden-esque, even though it was based on a Koontz book I think.

Right now I'm reading Deepsix by Jack McDevitt.

I'm reading Raiders of the Lost Carpark by Rankin while I anxiously await the release of the latest Derek Landy. It's the last Skulduggery Pleasant book. Is anyone else reading these? Is anyone else as nervous as I am about the end? I don't know if I can read it because I'm so scared, but I have to know what happens.

Ian Rankin is an.... interesting read. Very amusing in places, very off topic in others! Having said that, I do enjoy reading his stuff occassionally. I've been reading Game of Thrones (at last) and have read the first two books. I had a break to finish watching season 4 as I found reading the books at the same time was confusing, so I'll be getting back to the books soon. I've also picked up Jo Brand's autobiography, Look Back in Hunger, which I'm really enjoying.

Haha! I thought it was just coincidence that what you described sounded a lot like R Rankin even though you said it was I Rankin. Anyway, R Rankin is fun to read but you can only read one or two in a row without your brain melting. The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse is the first I read of his. My husband sent it to me back when we were just dating and sealed the deal.

Put other books on hold to read The Maze Runner because the kiddo was gushing over it and begging me to read it so she could talk to me about it. LOL! It was a decent book but I'm not sure why she and her friends are crushing so hard over it. lol

Now that that's done I can get back to finishing up Hild and Dragonfly in Amber. LOL!

I finally started reading A Game of. Thrones. Please, please, PLEASE tell me that it picks up! I'm about 100 or so pages in and am really struggling! I feel like I'm letting my fellow geeks down by not liking it...I'm seeing it through to the end just because I always do that, but I just can't get into it -_-

It is a fairly slow paced series. A lot happens and it becomes very interesting (to me at least), but it is spaced out action rather than jam packed.
